The Pistons would be big time losers in that seeing Shaq may most likely retire within the next few years.

They'd also be getting a free trip to the NBA Finals for probably 3 out of the next 5 seasons, depending on how many people they can keep around Shaq. If Shaq gets traded to the East, that team will get to the Finals before Shaq retires, I can understand thinking about the future, but it's really hard to pass on an opporunity like that.

That would be the worst possible trade Det. could make! I don't like Shaq and I would much rather see Darko and Big Ben there than the stumbling Shaq. I doubt Shaq has many more years of play left in him, all the injuries and such... I just really wouldn't like to see that trade go down.

People aren't understanding...Shaq would most likely put Detroit in the Finals now, something Darko might not be able to do on his own..Shaq can....would you rather go to the finals now......or have a team for the future and not know what to expect?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is not the Los Angeles Times . Tim Kawamami used to write for the times, but now he is up in the Bay Area. I get the LA Times, and that has not been reported in our paper down here. The Lakers would not make that trade, at least not this season. They will give him a chance to get in shape. He's does the best when he has something to prove. That trade was just a possibility for deals for the Lakers to make.

Look up latimes.com, and you can't find it anywhere. I get the LA Times daily, and read the NBA articles everyday. That was not from the LA Times.

that would be crazy but i would to see Kobe lead a team to greatness and with Ben Wallace the team should be unstoppable (in a couple of years!)
