I think it was obvious that the Pistons were gonna pick Darko. I say it's a good fit. Damn the Pistons lucked out this year.

As for the Nuggets, I dunno what they should do. Melo should be at 3, so if they choose someone else, they're just giving him away.

Nope. With the deal made by the Pistons and Kings a few days ago (gone over in detail inside another thread at this forum), Detroit keeps its 25th pick.

Why does everyone think Carmello will play SF in the league?

What is your opinion based on?

If you'd like, I could provide this forum with quote after quote from Stan Kroenke and Kiki Vandeweghe regarding their excitement about Carmelo Anthony, as well as their stated intent to draft him.

"..dont want Melo" couldn't be further from the truth.
Would they have preferred LeBron? Of course. Darko? Yep - but they're not going to get either one, and they'll have to deal with it.

As far a logjam at SF goes... well, not to put too fine a point on it, but the Nuggets suck.
Ergo, they don't have a logjam anywhere. If they get a quality player- he'll be starting - period.

Let's look more closely at Denver's situation (hold your noses, everyone):

                        1) Juwan Howard is as good as gone via free agency, barring something unanticipated.

                        2) Marcus Camby cannot be counted to play anywhere near a full season. That's the player Denver doesn't want. They had to take him in the McDyess-Hilario deal, and hoped he'd be healthy enough to deal at the deadline. However, the NBA's finally figured out Camby, and the Nuggets are stuck with him. But they still can't count on him...

                        So what do they have?

                        3) Nene. The "Hilario" has been dropped for marketing purposes in Brazil - and it's fun to say "Nene"...
He's a power forward who was forced into playing center this year, and did surprisingly well. Unless the Nuggets go after and land Michael Olowokandi from free agency, Nene will be staying in the paint. He's a good rebounder and shot blocker, and has the body to bang with the big bodies in the middle.

                        4) Cash. Denver's going to go after Gilbert Arenas hard. They'll overpay to get him, and stand a decent chance of doing just that. They also would love to get Elton Brand or Jermaine O'Neal, but neither is likely to happen. The more likely player for Denver to acquire is Corey Maggette from the Clippers, whom the Nuggets also covet.

                        That's it.
Rodney White was starting at shooting guard by the end of the year, and Nikoloz Tskitishvili was still doing... well, nothing.
Tskitishvilii's now expected to play the four - if and when he develops any consistency. White is being groomed as a sixth man for now, with his flexibilty at the two and three - something also shared by Corey Maggette.

Now, the draft is held before the free agency period begins, so Denver has to draft according to their plan - whether or they can pull it off or not. So if you look at the Nuggets' roster this year through this crystal ball, you see:

                        PG Arenas
                        SG Maggette/White
                        PF Nene/Tskitishvili/Donnell Harvey
C Camby (until he gets hurt again)/Nene

Notice that I haven't put anyone at SF yet. If you had the third pick, needed a quality three, and had the opportunity to select a player that would be the likely #1 pick in most years - who can add much-needed charisma and star power to your - who would you pick?
