When UConn beat Duke in the '04 Final Four I punched a brick wall (I was wasted obviously) I was so pumped and damn near broke a knuckle and my hand bled like crazy cause of the booze. Re: Emotion or hobby?
Emotional... when my Nuggets put it together and are really humming, it nearly brings a tear to my eye. There's nothing quite like watching a team play at the top of their collective abilities, all at once... that's especially true when you don't see it that often or if there's a history of disappointments associated with that team/certain players. Like the first time I saw K-Mart finish an oop after coming back from the microfrature -- I love moments like that.
I get emotional about basketball in general, but the Nuggets really strike a chord with me, both because I like many of the players (even before they were Nuggets) and because the team is one of the few in the league who has never won a title in its history... there's always a goal to be reached. The level of overall team success isn't as much a part of it for me as individual games/moments when you see the greatness shine through... like when Melo scored 33 in a quarter or JR hit 8 threes and won the game for us... I live for that kind of stuff.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Haha, I'll be pissed if it's a game they should win and don't but it's not like I'll punch a wall or have trouble sleeping like I did 5-10 years ago. Obviously there's still emotion involved but not crazy like it used to be.

OH BTW, I broke a remote that game. Effing Chris Duhon. There is no 4pt shot you d***.Comment

Re: Emotion or hobby?
For me its definitely emotion. It's like that for pretty much all of the teams/sports I watch. I'm 17 and I started seriously watching football, basketball and hockey in about 03. Before that though, the first basketball game I remember watching was Kings/Lakers. That was amazing and it helped hook me into basketball and also started my hate for Kobe, haha. I never really got to watch Jordan (well, I watched him in the 03 ASG and playing for the Wizards but that doesn't count) or any of the other greats like Magic, Bird, etc., which always makes me wish I started following earlier when I watch anything involving them but I was raised by a single mother so I never really had a dad or father figure to get me into sports until later on but that's a whole 'nother story.
Anyways, that East Finals last year ripped my heart out. I seriously felt a feeling in my stomach I've never felt before after some of those losses. It was painful. But that series did give me one of my greatest sports memories I'll remember forever. The LeBron buzzer beater. My heart was pumping like it never pumped before as they were setting up the inbound and then seeing LeBron take the shot, everything was like it was in slow motion for a second and then he hit it and my head damn near hit the ceiling I was jumping around so much. I probably looked like some 6 year old on a trampoline, LOL. So yeah, for me its definitely not a hobby, its emotion.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: Emotion or hobby?
kind of echoing what everyone else said
I'm about to graduate college and I've learned there are more important things in life than sports. A few years ago it was an emotion now it's a hobby.Comment
