Yes, it is hard to believe, seeing as how Kobe has no prior criminal record that I'm aware of. In fact, I can't remember the last time he was in any sort of legal trouble at all. I could believe it if Allen Iverson were accused of this crime, because of his reputation. Kobe? No.

I agree that people should cease from saying cruel things about Bryant until, at the very least, the woman's case is revealed. Being accused of a crime is NOT a crime. Whatever you may think of Bryant professionally (and I'm no fan of him either), every American is entitled to due process of law.

I only disagree with you, schindeler, on one point: &amp;#8220;If this is true then everyone is entitled to a mistake.&amp;#8221; I couldn't disagree more with you. Mistakes are one thing, sexual assault is something else entirely. And if it's proven that Kobe is guilty of rape, I hope he serves a long prison sentence. I can't believe there's anyone who would say, &amp;#8220;Let a rapist get off with probation.&amp;#8221;

A lot of people make the assumption that they know what someone is capable of because they come off nice in front of a camera and are great athletes or stars. Fact is these people are capable of committing the same immoral acts of the person working 9-5 or the graveyard shift for much less money.

In MJ's book "Rare Air", he talks about constantly having to almost wear a mask while in public as to always display a positive image because he doesn't know who is watching. He felt that may be the first and last time they saw him and he wanted to leave a good impression. In other words it's all about image when in front of a camera for most stars which means we will never truly know that person.

J. Kidd- domestic violence
O.J. Simpson- charged with a double homicide(he did it)
Penny Hardaway- allegedly threatening his girl, while holding a gun.
Halle Berry- Hit and Run

There are way more incidents of famous people getting charged with crimes, but I picked these 4 because they are the last one's I would of thought to do such things because of the way they came off in front of the camera. Everyone falls into the mentality of giving stars the benefit of the doubt which is not always the case for us regular folk. People are innocent until proven guilty, but just because someone is more famous shouldn't mean they should get more of a benefit. The only people we truly know are our friends, family, and ourselves. If you are close personal friends with Kobe, A.I., Kidd, etc. than maybe you do know what they are capable of but for the rest of us, we don't know jack about them

They said Kobe could sue the county for falsely arresting him without the DA's approval. This is a "get rich quick" by the woman Id bet my life on it.

plus he was consistently turning his back on his team by talking about retiring in the middle of the season or taking other jobs. so he was as much as a detriment to the team as Iverson.
