How many minutes do you think he should play? (I would say around 30) Does that mean starting? (No.)
Allen Iverson made it clear that he wants to start..Memphis signed AI knowing this...it doesnt matter what we want him to do...Iverson said he wants to start, he didnt say anything about minutes...

Teams around the league knew this, do you relly think the Celtics would offer Marbury to rejoined them but wouldnt offer AI if he acceptes to come off the bench?

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis

Sometimes I don't get what we're talking about.

But my point is plain and simple everyone who claims A.I. is washed up has absolutely no proof as stumble said earlier if he was washed up it would have been showed in denver.

He averaged 26/7 as soon as he was traded his minutes was reduced and also his shot attempts went down. Ok so what does this say? If I took Dwyane Wade who's stats look very similar a and is another undersized SG at 6'3-6'4 and put him into a team say like the lakers where there is Shannon Brown Starting the PG because he's been explosive and we all know he isn't starting over Kobe in A.I. case this would be RIP. So we take wade from playing his usual style and tell him hey your backing up kobe and shannon brown. How exactly would he react? What would his stats look like? Maybe something like 15PPG/4APG.

This being said my point is Allen Iverson has always been a guy who can run a offense as well as any other great offensive player in the league so when exactly did this so called decline happen all his haters say i see is he's slower which i haven't noticed. Being a undersized guard has nothing to do with it. People just have their own opinions and believe what they want.

Yup, that the reason Memphis sign Iverson, they did offer him the starting job but he shouldnt did what he did though and complain through the media. What if the coach wasnt sure if he is 100 percent ready to go and just want to ease him back. He should of went to coach not the media. Discuss this behind close door iverson.

<!-- START 'inlineAds : default' FILE: /.element/ssi/story/1.0/news/.branding/default/inlineAds.html --> Weary Hollins: 'I'm done commenting' on Iverson

              By Frank Hughes, for NBA.com
              Posted Nov 4 2009 10:17PM
OAKLAND, Calif. (NBA.com exclusive) -- Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins already sounds weary of Allen Iverson.

<!-- FINISH 'inlineAds' -->Responding to Iverson's assertion two days ago that he should be in the Grizzlies' starting lineup, Hollins put a quick end to the line of questioning in his pregame meeting with reporters before the Grizzlies faced the Golden State Warriors.
"I'm not commenting on Allen anymore," Hollins said. "I'm done commenting on what Allen says. Allen has a right to say whatever he wants to say."
Iverson missed the preseason with a hamstring injury, then came off the bench in his debut Monday night, a 127-116 loss to the Sacramento Kings.
Iverson played just 17 minutes behind starters O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley, after which he told the Memphis Commercial-Appeal: "I had no problems with the hamstring. I had a problem with my butt sitting on that bench for so long."
"I'm not a bench player," Iverson continued. I'm not a sixth man. Look at my resume and that'll show I'm not a sixth man. I don't think it has anything to do with me being selfish. It's just who I am. I don't want to change what gave me all the success that I've had since I've been in this league. I'm not a sixth man. And that's that."
Hollins said before Wednesday's game that Iverson will continue to come off the bench for the 1-3 Grizzlies.
"Man, look, Allen has played 20 minutes in two months," Hollins said. "There is no way we are making a change and going in a different direction. If you want to talk to me about the Memphis Grizzlies as a team, (fine), but there is no way I am standing here and talking about Allen Iverson. Sorry."
Iverson did not speak before the game, walking past a group of reporters eating a clump of grapes on his way to the court to warm up.
Hollins said the topic of Iverson already is stale, even if he knew when the Grizzlies signed the lightning rod for controversy that he would be a regular topic of conversation.
"What my frustration is is that I have to talk about Allen Iverson in every setting," Hollins said. "I want to talk about the Memphis Grizzlies as a team. And even when Allen was out, I was having to talk about Allen. That is my frustration. I want to talk about the Memphis Grizzlies.
"If (Iverson) plays well and you want to ask me about how he played, that is great. If he plays poorly and you want to ask me about that, that is great, too. But I don't want to answer questions about what he says and what he's thinking. My job is to coach the team as a unit. I have to make decisions and all the players in that locker room are not going to be happy about it. But it is my job to try to do the best that I can."
looks like iverson won't be starting any time soon

Iverson with a quick 6 points and 3 assist.... this bench role is perfect for him in Memphis... he just needs 30-33 mpg...

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis

God you guys are too easy.....Iverson isn't washed up but he is playing on a team that we wouldn't otherwise talk about a player who signed for vet minimum and is the fourth best guard/wing on the team.

Didn't answer my questions of course. How many minutes should he play? SHould he start? Should he play PG or SG? With Conley on the court? Should he be the go to guy in the 4th to finish?

But I am watching this game now and Iverson comes in for Conley and he now can play a little bit with the starters then carry the second team. Exactly how he should play the game, exactly how he should be used in Memphis.

He can help this team win no doubt.

He is the streakiest player ever. We know he is great when he is great and not when he isn't.

Right now taking in all that there is in basketball from offense, defense, potential, team chemistry, durability Mayo and Conley are above Iverson.

Dude I root for Iverson so quit it with all this haterade crap. I want him to succeed but I am not delusional about what he brings to a team at this time in his career. I am not forgetting how he sat out in free agency land only to sign with the Grizzlies for the money he did (which tells you exactly what the rest of the league thought about him).

I want him to prove every GM wrong and lead this team to the playoffs.

come on man, you are saying MICHAEL CONLEY, this guy who has never done anything in the NBA, this guy who will most likely never be a star in this league and is LUCKY if he continues to even start, is better than Allen Iverson.

that is insane, if you root for Iverson and want him to succeed there is no way you should be under-rating him like you are...

OJ Mayo is 10 times better than Conley, and people can't even say Mayo is better than Iverson at this point in his career so how can you say Conley is better?

Michael Conley is in the bottom 5 as far as starting point guards in this league...

Conley will be a guy who scores 10pts dishes 6-7 assists but plays good solid defense and gets a team into its offense. He is a true PG who's jumper is coming along nicely. He is the future not AI. Everyone in the league knows what Iverson does but Conley could develop into a great PG...not flashy or a scorer like AI but someone who runs a team. Something AI has never done well.

I want AI to play 30 minutes a night off the bench and when he is on he should finish games if not take him out and let Mayo, Gay and Randolph be the scorers.

10 points and 6-7 assist? on this team he should easily average 10 assist as a good non-scoring point guard...

his defense is not great, and he makes many bad decisions... the decision making should get better, but come on now, this is not a rookie we are talking about... this is a 3rd year player...

in 30 minutes last year he only averaged 4 assist... he is not a guy who I would label "the future"...

but i agree that iverson finishing is more important than him starting and 30 minutes should be enough...
