I guess I'm kinda a Laker fan now. At least he'll get a ring which will make him happy and complete his career.

He'll get a ring by being a sellout. Not an accomplishment to be proud of, IMHO. But I have no doubt the Lakers are going to win the championship next year. At least their run was broken and they won't four-peat just yet, if ever.

Here's an interesting comment I just read at ESPN.com

            </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
Josh ( Santa Barbara): Is the 2003-2004 Laker starting lineup going to be the best in NBA history? ( 4 future hall of famers!!!)

Ken Bikoff: (5:32 PM ET ) I think it could be extraordinarily dangerous for the Lakers to have that much talent on the starting lineup. I don't think it makes the Lakers a lock to win the title because you could run into a Trail Blazers-type of situation. Too many stars and not enough role players. Will Payton defer to Kobe in the crunch? Will Malone, if he signs, be willing to be the third or fourth option on offense? Will Shaq be able to get along with all three? Will Payton and Malone pick up the triangle offense quickly? There are a lot of questions with that type of lineup. They would be the favorites to win, but by no means a lock.

            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I kinda agree with that. All 4 of these guys are going to need to check their egos for the entire season. They will need to work together and respect each others game.

Call me a fool, but I still think that the Spurs and Kings are better than the Lakers even with Payton.

                  Debate?

Imagine if Kidd joins the Spurs and they meet the Lakers in WCF. That would just be an incredible series. However the Finals are gonna just be horrible this year. Lakers or Spurs 4-0 by a 20 point margin over any team in the East.
