    They very well could have. It's possible they haven't, but I'll have to see it myself to believe it. The East is looking more horrible by the day. The West is getting considerably stronger, and I think guys like JO will regret signing on a weaker conference team, while the truth remains, he would have a better chance at winning somewhere in the West.

                        Lakers are definitely one of the faves to win the championship again next season but I'd rather wait and see how all this works out.

                        I still think Sac-Town will win it though.

                              As if I didn't hate the Lakers enough already. Why do they need Payton and Malone, anyway? Shaq and Kobe have already won three titles without them. Malone and Payton just want along for the ride, and they're willing to ride Shaq and Kobe's coattails in order to win a championship.

                              I would have a lot more respect for them if they joined a team that's on the threshold of winning a title but hasn't gotten there yet. In other words, this is great for the Lakers but a big “F-U!” to the rest of the league.
