Re: Brandon Jennings is the Truth
His hype wasn't based on his ability to distribute the ball, it was based on his athleticism and winner's mentality. Other than maybe Nate Robinson (who isn't really a PG) I can't name another PG in the league more athletic than Rose. Also, this is a kid who has won back to back state titles in HS, took his team to the NCAA championship as a freshman, led a lowly Bulls team to the playoffs and almost upset the Celtics (if I recall, EVERYONE was picking that to be the one series most likely to end in a sweep).
Right now he's averaging 14 and 5. Last year he averaged 17 and 6. Nine games into the season, expect his numbers to increase, especially coming off an injury with no preseason games being played. NO point guard in the NBA would average 10+ assists playing with the personnel that Rose has (players and coaching staff included).
Anyway, back to Jennings, if he keeps this up, he will have the highest PPG averages as a rookie since Jordan. I think his numbers will tail off though...maybe to 19-20ppg, which is still great.
I understand why his numbers are down this early, but I still don't see him retiring and going down as a great distributing PG, I can see him become a great all-around PG with scoring as his main strength though...
I agree that Jennings will be around 19-20 ppg once Redd returns... BUT, if Redd struggles, Jennings will have to score more, Bogut also...Comment

Re: Brandon Jennings is the Truth
I really don't think some realize how great 55 points was.
Think about it this way. Kobe scored 63 points in three quarters.. and many, including myself find that to be more astonishing/impressive than 81 points, albeit not that much more impressive.
Jennings scored 55 in three quarters [as mentioned, he didn't score in the first quarter]. As a 20 year old point guard. That is bonkers.Comment

Re: Brandon Jennings is the Truth
True.
But yeah the fact that in three quarters he technically scored 55 is bananas. He's supposed to be a frosh or soph in college as a point guard.
It really doesn't make sense.
I'm not crowning him yet, but the feat is truly remarkable.
To do a true AB, the thread would have to be about how Brandon Jenning's favorite food is pizza and where Jennings likes to eat in MIL... only to have AB give a full on scouting report and future outlook of his prospects and place in the history of the game.Comment

Re: Brandon Jennings is the Truth
Jennings is an unbelievale talent. Posseses great quickness and has really seemed to improve his on ball defense since we last saw him in HS. Is off to a historic start as a rookie where he has shown that he can shoot with great efficiency.
Right now he is playing for a team that has no type of winning in their future so I can imagine that he will not be happy unless his teammates can step up and fight with him.
If one of the most overrated shooters in NBA HIstory (Mike Redd) is constantly shooting your team out of games, I couldn't imagine Jennings keeping this pace up over the course of the season.

Re: Brandon Jennings is the Truth
It's funny, Jennings didn't shoot well in Europe either. I would keep checking his stats and scouting reports to see how he was coming along and they kept talking about him having poor shot selection, not following through on his shots. Then in preseason, he also struggled shooting the ball. Now, game time, and he's shot very well thus far.
Well, we'll see if he can avoid the rookie wall.

Just curious if you read about Jennings' situation in Europe?
There were a lot of factors that definitely effected how effective he was in the actual games.
It's not like he got minutes either.Comment
