hell no is what i say. simply because this Laker team won't work as moothly as that 72-10 Bulls team. everybody knew their role. this Laker team won't be able to do that. Malone, i guarantee, will still be looking to take over his spot as the top scorer of all time over Kareem, and Kobe is Kobe, Shaq probably will be injured again lol and Gary will bicker about. that's his nature.

72-10? I don't think they will be that good, but I do expect them to win 60-65 games. (barring major injuries) Even if Shaq got hurt I think the Laker's would be alright, because they wouldn't be losing a low post presence. They lost a lot of games last year when Shaq was gone, because they became a perimeter team.

Wait. When did the Lakers stop running the triangle offense? Oh wait. They didn't.

Let's see. I'm sure Gary and Karl's phone conversation when like this...

GP: Hey Karl, if I agree to sign with the Lakers for less money than other teams that want to pay me more, can you guarantee I'll get my shots?

KM: Heck yeah man! I'm the mailman. I'll put Kobe AND Shaq in their place and make sure neither one gets to score more points than either of us.

GP: What if Phil Jackson wants us to run their offense?

KM: Who the F&CK is Phil Jackson? He ain't nobody.

GP: Wait Karl, aren't they paying Phil more than you?

KM: Uh...yeah. SO WHAT!! I'm going to enjoy my 1.5 million and get that scoring title. I don't need no rings.

GP: Yeah, me too. It's all about me gettin' my shot.

I personally...hate the Lakers, I'll be the first to admit it. But, there is a strong possibility that 70 wins is just around the corner. Triangle or not...these guys are all All-Stars. Get out your NBA Live 2002.....Take a look at the All-Star teams. You'll see Bryant, O'Neal, Payton, and Malone. That says enough!!! Payton is older but believe it or not, he knows his role, an assist man. He can diss the rock to three other premere players. Malone is just another inside precense that keeps teams from doubling down on Shaq. Sorry guys, they are gonna be good, and I can't stand it!

If Payton, Malone, Shaq, and Kobe can check their respective egos' at the door, and play as a team...this team will be very scary...but extermely exciting to watch as a basketball - fan / enthusiast.

To many 'chiefs' on a team and not enough 'indians' equals disaster. I hope Payton, Malone, Shaq, and Kobe understand this. There can only be one 'chief' on a team, and that is the head-coach.

If all these guys play thier roles and not as individuals, this Laker - team could go down as one of the greatest NBA teams of all time. They will be like a "mini" Dream-Team.

Plus remember the injury-factor. All these guys need to stay healthy.

Personally, I see to many egos on this team.

We will have to wait and see if winning and championships are what Payton, Malone, Shaq, and Kobe are really all about. All four have stated in numerous interviews over the years that championships are all they care about...guess we will find out.

This is coming from a true "Laker-*****"...
