That's not what he meant.
Just like last year when people were saying "don't worry SA will eventually get it together" when you have too many injuries, and you're aging, you can't expect to win a ring. SA was ousted by a roughed up DAL team.
He meant that maybe the SA team could overcome all of this a few years ago when everyone was younger and maybe could still compete with the big boys.
I wouldn't count them out in terms of getting a ring, but they haven't been scary for a looooong time going back to before last year.Comment

Re: 11/16-11/22 NBA Discussion
They have never really replaced Bruce, which is understandable considering he was an elite wing defender.. maybe that's where it all started... which was compounded by injuries to key players and of course age.
Right now Dallas and Denver look a lot "scarier"..
Matchups wise it's a toss up in terms of who matches up better with whom out West.
As an LA fan I'd almost rather face SA than Dallas or Denver but it's still early. I predict by the end of the season I will least want to play Denver followed by SA followed by Dallas followed by Portland and Houston.Comment

Re: 11/16-11/22 NBA Discussion
1. Duncan isn't what he used to be
2. What he used to be wasn't close to the great player people rated him. Yes he was great but to me, never among the best.
In saying that though, the offseason signings that were meant to be strokes of genius, in Mcdyess, Ratliff and the initially promising Blair have been useless in the last few games.Comment

I have always secretly thought that to myself, but never really said it.
I would still "rate" him "better" than KG/Dirk, but not way above them.
All the "greatest PF ever" talk I never ever bought into.
