Malone can wear Magic's number

This was reported in LaTimes.com. Magic has given permission to lower his number, and let Karl Malone wear it while he is a Laker, if he becomes a Laker. I think that is a very big and bold move by the organization in trying to acquire somebody. It's like someone going to Chicago, and them letting him wear number 23, just cause he has been his whole career. Just thought I would let you guys know.

I guess Magic wants the Lakers to really win some more rings. But if I was as good as Magic I don't think I would let anyone use my number.

That's crap. Generous of Magic... but it's wrong. He offered the same thing to a Michigan State player in order to help recruit him.

Karl had better turn down the offer.

As I said in another thread, ANYONE wearing a Lakers 32 jersey is committing basketball blasphemy.
Magic Johnson is the greatest player of all-time IMO and the #32 should stay up in the rafters where it belongs.

And it bothers me that Magic would come out and say this seeing that it was Karl Malone who was most critical of Magic when Magic came back to play with HIV.
