    Re: New Jersey v LA

They have the exact same roster as last year with the exception of Zo and Zoran Planinic. How are they so much better? I don't see the Nets making progress to compete with the west....that was the point...right? Or is it just to have the ability to show up again at the finals, that I believe they accomplished.
If Zo can stay healthy, the best he will give is limited minutes which "may" make a difference and no one knows what Zoran can do. They done enough to sign Kidd, and compete in the east to get back to the finals but not actually win. Zo in his hayday I might agree the Nets would be contenders. However, you don't know how many minutes he can give or how productive he can be. He missed an entire year, and his health is uncertain. Zo is a huge risk for any team and was such a big free agent because even at 60% or the risk of another missed season, Zo is better than the majority of centers available this year. Much as I like Zo, that isn't anything to crow about

      Mailman v. Kmart

      Kmart better than Malone?

First off, Malone hardly plays the post anymore. He just runs pick and rolls, steps out and fires that rainbow jump shot.

Secondly, Mailman has the experience edge on Kmart

Third, Malone is stronger than Kmart

BTW, the first time Shaq throws the shoulder into Mutombo,I would not be suprised if Deke crumbles into a little pile of dust like in the mummy. Nobody even knows how old he is, but he sure as hell doesn't look the 37-38-39 he says he is.

Zo is a beast...He might be the only player that can(dare i say)contain the big man.He may have health problems but the Nets have a crapload of Centers.Zo should play no more than 25 minutes a game.

                  Re: New Jersey v LA

What would have been good for the NBA is if Kidd and Zo went to the Spurs. I like the Nets, but they are no competition against the Lakers. The Spurs could have formed a great team of their own to match the Lakers, but now there's nobody to match up to them, at least on paper. The only thing to do now is to play the games and hope that the signing of Malone and Payton is a recipe for disaster in LA. Not likely, but it's possible.
