Re: Chris Bosh: We're just not that good.

Raptors ARE a euro league team...basically the epitome of one, and the entire reason they wont win anything in the NBA.

not a knock to them, but more to Colangelo his cohorts and thier "dream" of basically having a Euro League team in the NBA and being competitive.

Euro style of play is based on ball movement and jumpshots.

In Europe they DO play defense...however it is a lot more physical, hand checking is allowed (somewhat) and their lack of athletiscm (in general) isnt really exploited because of the physicality...along with the other various rules.

This is why the majority of the great Euro league teams have extremly quick/small athletic quards on thier team (From USA might i add)...because those guys can still get theirs even with the physical man on man defense.

NBA Players are way too athletic, coupled with the "you cant touch anyone" NBA Fouls, and being that nobody on the Raptors is really capable or quick enough to slash to the basket and create for himself or others, or get easy baskets besides a jumpshot...AND the lack of rebounding from their MAIN big men (im looking at you Bosh and Bargs).. doesnt help this cause whatsoever.

The experiment failed...but it was a nice try, so ill tip my hat to Colangelo...atleast he had a plan...It just wont work...nothing wrong with that.

They really don't scare anyone on offense nor defense. That's not a good thing.

when a team cant rebound or defend they will usually suck ***.

        trust me.

        :/

        LOL

Outside of that basically all 5 starters are all poor defenders... thats not usually a recipe for success

            THIS

Although Derozan is ballin' tonight. I have hope that he can become a Josh Howard type player.

I think this thread needs to be re-evaluated a month from now.

The team had a brutal schedule the first month, see how it goes the next month.

But I do tend to agree that a PG upgrade may be necessary.

I also think starting derozen makes no sense. They should put Antoine Wright in at SG for some D on the other team's perimeter star and have Derozen come off the bench and score.

A natural scorer on the floor who is a 5th option nad hasn't learned NBA Defense doesn't make sense to me.

If CB4 does leave, I think Bargs should be moved to PF. It's his most natural NBA position.

derozan is beastin...right when people were saying to get him out of the starting 5.

we're killing the bulls tonight...who are a bad team though, but still.

Re: Chris Bosh: We're just not that good.

Jose Calderon is another example of a player dropping training camp clichés (I wasn’t 100% last year and now I’m in the best shape of my life and committed to becoming a better defender) and not living up to it. Any team that trots out Calderon, Bargnani, and Turkoglu at the same time is going to give up a ton of points. All 3 are horrible defenders and I feel sorry for Bosh. He probably feels like he’s playing short handed on defense. As a Raptors fan, I was embarrassed when Pierce knocked over Bosh and not one single Raptor confronted him. The Raptors could really use a Charles Oakley (prime version) type player.

I just wonder how much more losing can the fan base take. This is the Raptors 15th season in the NBA and they’ve won a grand total of 1 Playoff series.

Never getting to a conference semi final with Bosh playing next to someone softer and equally as bad on defence as he is.

The Raptors should give Danny Fortson a call. Surely he's still capable of giving hard fouls and being the baddest man in pigtails.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"
