It'd just make teams more stacked, and lead to more dynasties like the older years. It won't eliminate crappy teams. Because you'd have a team of future HOFamers against a team of just all-stars or one HOF, it won't eliminate crappy teams so I don't see the point. There will always be really bad teams, average teams, and the elite teams.

Crappy teams like the t'wolves and nets are not absent of talent. It is a combination of GM decisions, coaching, confidence, etc etc. You look at the Rockets lineup and most before the year didn't think nothing of it. Most of these guys are late first rounders and 2nd round players. With lesser teams, some of these guys would be bench players

Picture Luis Scola backing up Rashard Lewis or something. Essentially he was supposed to back up Timmy. But the Rockets managed to get him, and that proves to me the talent pool is growing because of how the global popularity of the sport is rising. That they could get a guy who played no bball in the NBA, Spurs just toss him aside, and he's a more than capable starter. This is the entire Rockets team also.

So, it would make teams better.

Nobody is saying there won't be bad teams. But it will make average teams tougher to deal with. The goal is for better play, not eliminating bad teams altogether.

        1. Nets
        2. Pacers
        3. Wizards

        4. Warriors (can be absored by the Clippers and become the LA Warriors)
        5. T'Wolves
        6. Grizzlies?

As much as I hate Stern, I'm glad he's smart enough to know contraction would be a bad idea.

I still don't know where I stand on this contraction vs expansion thing. But I do kinda feel that with the growth of an Asian and African pool of players that if 30 teams isn't right now, it will probably be right in the 10 years.

My one question is: What is your reasoning for not wanting more dynasties?

Is it the way the NBA structures their salary cap and CBA making it hard for teams to get out of one or two bad decision? Is it because it would give more fan bases hope that their team can win a title and therefore draw better? I was just curious as to what you believe.

I agree also that there are too many teams in the league. The talent is too spread out. This is why ratings and tickets are down. The league has become too individual minded rather then team. They market one on one match ups instead of the league having many quality rivalries. Between this and the softness of rules have made the league watered down.

                  LOL Stumble

I was for a contraction...but I dont think you need to take out 4-5 teams.. just 2. one from each conference.

                  1. Clippers
There is no Reason there should be two basketball teams in one city...using the same arena. The Clippers owner has refused to even think about moving the team toanother facility, and they are perrenial losers. The sole reason they exist is to be the Anti-Lakers

                  2. New Jersey Nets
Nobody goes to the games...and it has been like that for awhile...I remmeebr watching Nets games and wondering "damn where is everyone"...(ATL is the same way)...no offense to anyone but New Jersey is a dump...yea its easy to dump on them now for only having 3 wins...but they have been terrible for quite some time.

Get those two teams out and have a Draft for thier players

Miami is the same way. Everytime I see their home highlights the stands are empty.

Although it won't happen I would love to see contraction in the league. Too many teams and too many games. I think they should reduce the regular season to 60-70 games. Dropping two teams to get down to 28 would be good and dropping down to 24 would be even better.

I'm a huge b-ball fan. I've been an NBA League Pass subscriber since its inception but I'm pretty sure this is the last year that I'll pay for it. Exciting regular season games seem to be the exception as opposed to the rule these days. I just think fewer players may help the quality of the product.

You know what, that may not be a bad idea. Then the league could go back to 2 divisions in each conference. Getting rid of the Southwest, Southeast, and Northwest divisions and brining back the Midwest division. I thnk it would look something like this.......

Top 4 teams from each division make the playoffs only. This would make division play matter more. I'm not a big fan of contraction but if the league decides to go this route taking away the Nets and Clippers and go with this division format. I could live with it.
