Shaq to have surgery; likely out for 6-8

    Windhorst reporting via tweet: https://twitter.com/PDcavsinsider

Shaq to have surgery on right thumb tomorrow. Cavs do not set timetable but normally for this injury it is 6-8 weeks...
It basically means his regular season is probably over...
The Cavs got Shaq for a playoff series with Orlando and/or Lakers. He should be back for such a series if the teams make it that far...
The issue would be his conditioning -- despite all the jokes he is in excellent shape now -- & adjusting to a return in playoffs...
Plenty of playing time going to be available for Leon Powe now. Frankly, he will be getting minutes at center in many games

Blessing in disguise. Wait for the rebirth of Leon.

Conditioning shouldn't be an issue if it's a thumb injury, should it not?

We play faster without Shaq, and yeah, Powe looks great so far.

As Windy has pointed out, the Cavaliers didn't get Shaq for the regular season.

They got him to matchup and beat the Lakers, Magic, and other teams will physical big men.

Big Z will be back in a few more weeks as well.

Still, as a Cavaliers fan, I'd love to see someone do the same to Big Baby.

He certainly deserves it, especially since he went after the injured thumb before the timeout.

I don't feel bad for Shaq, or the Cavs at all.

Big Baby is a punk, always has been. Shaq will retaliate somehow, eventually. I would like to see a 1 vs 4 Cavs/Boston second round series, but Atlanta would have to pass the Celtics for that to happen.

What exactly did Big Baby do to be called a punk?

Big Baby then LIED about this and said they edited the footage to make it look like he grabbed Shaq's injured thumb when he didn't really do it. So:

                    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cE9cnXKy5Jg&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_ US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cE9cnXKy5Jg&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_ US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

You can clearly see it happens AFTER he hurts his thumb around 1:17ish.

Big Cry Baby is a punk and a dirty player. He'll get his one day.

I'd still want Shaq to be out there playing as opposed to not. To just go out there cold turkey against a team like Orlando or LA or any other top team is a lot to ask for.

But yeah, he was basically acquired to play Orlando. Cleveland to me can beat Atlanta and Boston without Shaq.. so I guess it's moot.

MJ did. If he knew a guy had an injury, he'd intentionally go at it until the guy had to sit back down. Specifically, he did this to Grant Hill when he had an ankle injury. Mike's philosophy was "if you can't take contact, you shouldn't be out there. If you're banged up, I'm going to go at it."

There is a big difference between going at someone with a weak ankle and grabbing and tugging on someone's injured thumb.

So MJ went out and started yanking on Grant Hills Shin?

Im not talking about going at a guy who's hurt but going after a guy specifically to injure him..
