Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
That second video about Durant not benching 185 was hilarious. The pictures were priceless.
BUT I remember how this was breaking news in the NBA pre draft camp and thought how crazy it is for someone to think that because he cannot bench 185 that'll he'll be an NBA bust. During that time, I always considered Oden and Durant as 1A and 1B. I don't think Portland would have taken a lot of slack(even back then) if they took Durant.
Obviously, if they would redo the 2007 draft tomorrow, Durant would be #1 overall.Comment

Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
Terrible for calling Durant overrated.
Even worse for disrespecting The Iceman.

Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
LOL, Durant received criticism from True Hoop in the summer and he has responded by putting up an MVP calibre season...
This Blowherd dude has no clue what he is talking about.
Durant has the game of a 7 year veteran even though he's only 21. There's no way he has peaked..I can see him averaging 32-35 points per game for a few seasons. I think he can improve his passing for sure, but there aren't too many holes in his game.Last edited by Vince; 03-31-2010, 12:48 PM.Comment

Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
Cowherd is great at what he does: pissing people off with his strong opinions. This thread proves that. The guy is a gold mine. Have you ever heard anyone say that Cowherd is "okay"? No. People either HATE him or LOVE him. That tells me he's great at what he does in the sports entertainment industry. I love to listen to him and I find myself calling him an idiot at times and at other times I find myself agreeing with him. That's his job, to be very opinionated. I love it when these threads are started when Cowherd has people steaming mad. lol. Joke's on you.

Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
Newsflash (and I'm dead serious)....Cowherd rarely watches any sport other than college football.
I guarantee you hasn't watched a single Thunder game from start to finish this year.
But of course he's in the entertainment business and his goal is to do exactly what he did here, create enough controversy to get people talking about him."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
Colin and Jim Rome don't bother me at all. Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're wrong. I find them both entertaining either way. Sometimes I agree with them, sometimes not. Those are two of my favorite radio hosts, along with Brandon Tierney.
But I am glad that Max Kellerman is off of ESPN. For whatever reason, I just never liked that guy. It always pissed me off regarding the disrespectful manner in which he treated his callers.Comment

Re: Colin Cowherd calls Durant "overrated"
I agreed with Cowherd at the time, although not nearly as passionately.
At the time, I thought Greg Oden had all of the tools to be a HoF center and was legitimately good in college and Durant looked like a twig who was a tweener in the NBA (SF/PF) who was also good in college, but didn't have anything that especially stood out physically.
I also thought that center is a position very few teams have, much less dominate at and swingmen and tweener big men are a dime a dozen. Like Cowherd said in the video, Oden was 7 feet tall in shoes, was faster than Durant, could jump higher than Durant, was stronger than Durant, and had freakish body fat percentage for a person of his size and position. It seemed like one of the few sure picks at #1 in NBA history.
Plus, Greg's cologne commercial for ESPN was hilarious. The guy was marketable and a Space Jam Monstar.
Now, three years later, Durant is a SG/SF who scores at will from everywhere on the court, and is a fantastic leader with great drive while Oden is more famous for showing his wang and being placed on the IR more than playing basketball.
It's just one of those things that happens. Most of America was singing the same tune as Cowherd during that draft. Luke Ridnour couldn't bench 185, and that was big news when it came out... now the 6'10" possible #1 pick can't even do it?
Kevin Durant has made a lot of people look foolish and has done it with grace. Colin Cowherd is a tool, but not for this reason.Comment
