Durant did not look like a tweener in college, he had better perimeter skills at Texas than most DI guards. The only question was whether he could actually be a shooting guard and not a wing in the NBA. He was never going to be a power forward.

I agree on Oden though, he was ridiculous at OSU. I thought he was going to be a beast in the NBA, he just looked like a man among boys. I wish he converted that missed dunk over Jeff Green in the FF, probably would have been one of the ten best dunks of all time. My jaw was on the floor that he could even reach the rim from where he left the floor.

True but I think Cowherd is just saying this to get hate mail. It's what hacks like him with no real opinion or skill at hosting a radio/TV show or conducting interviews fall back on in order to stay relevant. If he actually believes this statement though then he's off his rocker because even I, as a casual observer of the game today can see that Durant is already EASILY in the top 5 players in the game and the Trailblazers have had not one but TWO great superstars they passed on in order to draft busts.

It's one thing to say something and have somewhat decent facts to back it up. With the whole saying Cinderellas don't draw thing, at least he has ratings to back that up. (Even though I still disagree, but still)

But saying something like this just for shock value, with little to no facts at all to support it, it's trolling, plain and simple. It's not good entertainment, it's being disingenuous and borderline lying just to elicit a response.

But hey, if being a disingenuous pr!ck for a living helps you sleep better at night, more power to you.

With Cowherd, if you don't like how he gets down, it's just real simple; do what I do: DON'T LISTEN. If you want to get him off the air, do what I do: DON'T LISTEN. In his position, the one thing he can't be is irrelevant. I'll give it to him, he's kept it one hundred about how he gets down. He's said on more than one occasion that he LIKES hate mail. It means people care. If he googles his name and he can see how many message boards and blogs are talking about him, that means he's doing something right. Then he can march right to the ESPN suits and **** them how many people are responding to what he said. He doesn't care if you're sitting there thinking about wanting to kill him, of if you're sitting there agreeing with every word he says. He just cares that you're sitting there listening.

Ice Man would score 26 and his man would score 25. He was basically calling Durant one dimensional.

If that's what he's saying then he's lost all context. Gervin's best years were in the ABA which was more or less playground basketball dressed up as a professional league. Defense was nice but it wasn't the main thrust of what made that league what it was. If Gervin was around to*** i'm sure he'd be a better defender. Not a great one mind you, but at least serviceable.

Cowherd might be right. Let's see what Durant does in the playoffs.

Which is why Bill Simmons' book is amazing because it takes all of that into account. Guys like Shaunassey and Cowherd never think that deeply about their statements.
