I don't see how you can use the rings in this one. Shaq having three rings doesn't make him any better of a player than Jason Kidd. That being said, I still would take Shaq over Kidd, just because he is more dominant. And as said before, there are many point guards in the league close to, if not on the same talent level of Jason Kidd.Comment

Re: If you had to build a franchise around one player who would it be
I'd build a team around Tim Duncan. He's a very gifted player who can play at centre or PF. he's very foundamental in the way that he plays and he doesn't complain like some other ballers do. He would be a very good influence on a team with younger players and yet still fit in well with an overly veteran team.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I would have to say that Payton is/was there. He is a better scorer, defender, and has better trash talking abilities. Kidd saw the floor a bit better and rebounds a bit better. Before that, I would say that Stockton was a great PG, and before that, Magic was there.
As for the centers, right now is Shaq, hands down, no question. Before that, with someone on his level, I would say it was the Dream. Before that was Kareem, before that was Wilt.
Seems to me that great centers are harder to come by than great PGs. This is true just because of the size issue. There are way more guys who are under 6'5" than there are above th 7' mark. So, I still say Shaq.Comment
