Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
IF we'd agreed(which we won't)to take on Arenas' Contract as well, then a deal could possibly be made but right now it's unlikely. Can't really see how a Wall-Arenas backcourt would work though. You can say "Oh Cassell will teach him Defense". Cassel couldn't even teach Nick Young or Blatche D so what the hell makes people(not people on here) think he can do it with either of those 2?
Me personally, I'm fine with the #3 pick in the Draft so really see the need to move up to get Wall, IMO.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
Stop pigeon-holing multi-talented players into rigid positions. Wall and Arenas have different skill sets that could complement each other under the right circumstances. Wall can push in transition, create havoc in the half-court, and play pestering defense. Arenas can also create, is an outside threat, and can still get to the basket. His problems last year didn’t revolve around his knee or ability to get past defenders (aside from that one time against Tyreke Evans), they revolved around confidence, re-acquainted decision-making in a new offense, and re-gaining proper timing to ignore contact (and the referees) and finish at the rim.Washington Redskins

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
Just my opinion, but I feel like Washington is really trying to rebuild right now, so they'd probably want to build around Wall, Blatche, maybe Nick Young if he develops. Having said that, I think that if they can get anything near decent for Arenas, they would do it in a heartbeat, because like I said, they're going through the rebuilding process and probably don't want the remnants of what ruined them in the first place.NFL: Bills

Arenas' contract was only bad in the context of Jamison, Caron, Stevenson, and Haywood on the team as well. With them gone, it's not bad at all considering how cheap Blatche and Wall are.
At this point, getting rid of Arenas' contract doesn't really matter. We have just under 30 million free for next year. Another 17 million off the books isn't going to give us anything extra, especially anything better than Wall. It's not like Arenas is the thing keeping us from signing both Lebron and Wade.Comment

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
The Wizards would trade Gilbert for anything, the problem is at this point between injuries, his legal situation, and his contract, we'd have to give things up for Gilbert when we no longer need cap room.Comment

What would be the point of that?

Again, I know we're not going to get that pick, but if we wanted to get it, I'm almost certain we could get it without dealing Lopez.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 05-19-2010, 07:22 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
Blatche STILL didn't get it even AFTER the trade went down. Unless we quickly forgot about when Flip said he would not let Blatche play the rest of the season, only to not only play him the next night but start him as well. Not that it was his choice anyway.
In other words, you're making excuses for him. BTW, I never said he couldn't do those things but from the time he WAS out there, he definitely wasn't showing very many signs of doing what you said he could do.
Arenas' contract was bad no matter who was on the team. And it goes beyond Arenas preventing them from getting a big name dude in here.
Again, I know we're not going to get that pick, but if we wanted to get it, I'm almost certain we could get it without dealing Lopez.
Dude was averaging 22 and 7 and 1.3 steals a game before the gun charges went down. Also those who appeared in 30+ games and averaged more than 30 minutes per last season, Arenas ranks 10th in assist-percentage (an estimate of the percentage of teammate field goals a player assisted while he was on on the floor). His 36.3% is a hair behind the 36.4% of both Jason Kidd and Dwyane Wade. In Saunders' three seasons in Detroit, the USG% (an estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor) of Billups and Hamilton respectively went as follows: 07-08: 23.0/24.5; 06-07: 21.5/25.9; 05-06: 22.9/27.4. In each season, Hamilton's UGS% was the higher of the two, but you wouldn't exactly count Chauncey as uninvolved. Both led those Pistons teams by sharing the scoring duties and by having great role players around them.Washington Redskins

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
There's no reason to trade for more capspace when we have the fourth most in the league.

Maybe if you gave us the #3, 2011 #1, 2012 #1, and Harris for the #1 and Arenas.Comment

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.
Did you watch all the game or just highlights?....Now I'm not saying dude looked like 4 years Gilbert, from a dude who haven't played in 2 years coming off a serious knee injury, I think he played pretty well...Coming off that west coast swing, He was coming on before the gun charges..putting up 33,45,22,31..then he got in trouble and that was it..I say he was coming around.Washington Redskins
