Really? That's what you came with for thinking about Akron in conjuction with Ohio? Goodyears are on my car right now, Akron never came to mind when picking them. Before LeBron when Ohio is brought up to people not in Ohio or a gearhead, it was Cleveland, Cincinatti and Columbus. Akron wasn't just rolling off the tongues of casual Joe walking on the street.

The love he would receive from wherever he's going might just make him forget about the people he disappointed in Ohio. Maybe there's something fantastically special about Akron as a hometown that I don't see, but if he bolts to come to a bigger market, he'd surely feel welcome as if he were one of there own.

Dude, it isn't that big of a deal.

Yeah, people are going to lose that *stuff* if he shoots down Cleveland on national TV. Belle and Ramirez got pelted with stuff at Indians games and I'm fairly certain Art Modell was smart enough to avoid any large gatherings of Cleveland fans. If LeBron leaves on ESPN, he will need very tight security when he comes back to play road games

This is a very foolish decision by myself, but I'm going to defend Chris Broussard here.

On a recent radio show with Bucher and a host I forgot, Broussard was pressed to predict where Lebron would go. He said 50/50 Cleveland/Chicago. Bucher got in on him to choose one team.

Chris: I believed for a long time that if he left, he'd leave for Chicago, but I always think there is a great chance to stay in Cleveland.

            Bucher: Pick one!

            Chris: It's a fluid situation

            Bucher: I can't believe you!

Chris: That's the thing though. The smart thing to say is that it's a fluid situation. It's impossible for any of us to know where they are going, because they are still deciding and feeding different info at different times. Teams are making moves, negotiating things, signing guys, and that changes things. It's a fluid situation that no one knows the answer to.
Hopefully that provides some context for his reports. I don't think any of the top ESPN/NBA TV guys(Bucher/Aldridge/Broussard) are doing what Stephen A Smith is doing. They are reporting info as it comes with the caveat that it's just what's being said, not necessarily what the end result will be. But people want to know every step of this, so guys are just passing along what their sources tell them. All of these FAs are keeping things close to the vest, so most of it is conjecture. Occasionally we get something nice like info on a presentation, or a 2nd meeting that teams weren't really trying to report, but more often we get info intended to hurt the chances of the competition.

Here's my issue with the fans, guys on this message board included. If all of this bothers you, just go on about your life and wait for the inevitable announcement. It really isn't a great amount of time. These guys got the last of their pitches on Saturday. It's going to be Wednesday in less than an hour. And all of this is happening over a holiday. I mean come on. It's not like they're taking all summer. All in all, it'll be less than a week from the last meeting to the agreement in principle.

Less than a week isn't a lot to ask, especially over a holiday. It's not like they're holding up training camp. If you really are hunting down tweets and pressing reload on ESPN or RealGM, then you're enjoying this drama as much as they are, on some level, and it's a bit disingenuous to pretend this is against some principle of sports conduct you believe in.

Like OSU said, I don't know how you can base assumptions about that better than people that you know, are actually from that area.

Why does everyone think if you aren't holding hands and passing roses about their whatever, it's hate for it? No one hates Akron in here. Just cause someone doesn't share your love for something doesn't automatically mean they hate it.

I honestly wont be able to take Cleveland or it's fans serious if they go on an "we hate LeBron" campaign if he doesn't resign with the Cavs. He doesn't owe anything to Cleveland, he wasn't born there nor did he ask to be drafted by the Cavs. If making the most beneficial choice for both his career and brand is going to send Cleveland on a tirade, they never had love for him in the first place.

                                It's borderline pathetic.
