I'm not missing anything am I? The Heat do have to take on this contract correct? Which would mean that they aren't playing for less money unless their taking less in the first year. And D-Wade is definitely getting the max then as well.

*LeBron signs contract for the sign-and-trade*

Gilbert: Okay, you're signed. And we're not trading you. *evil laugh*

I'm absolutely sure it doesn't work like that, but it'd be the funniest thing in the history of the earth.

I was wondering that as well. So basically with the Cavs willing to do a S and T and the Raps doing the same both LeBron and Bosh will get the max + 6 year deals?

Also how much more favorable is the tax rate in MIA that i have seen mentioned a few times? If it is significantly better than Cleveland isn't there a chance he may actually end up making more money over the life of his contract?

And some how, some way Joe Johnson emerges from free agency with the biggest contract.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

That gives MIA some flexibility right there. Maybe they really do "just want to win"?

Do the 3 rookie contracts count towards that total as well (Pittman, Vanardo, Butler)?

Good question...Though I dont think so because they were all 2nd rounders(contracts aren't guaranteed)

You're right, they do...So it knocks it down to around 5mil. I hate doing the math.

I thought they had first right to sign them and they can be still signed to the minimum rookie contract if they are over the cap but i would have thought they would count towards the cap if they were under it. I guess they could just use up as much of the remaining 7 mil then once they reach the cap sign the rookies as it won't matter?

How is Stern going to handle televising this team? There is a max that a team can be on TV each year, right? But they lost one of the slots (Cleveland) that aired so damn often in the past. Are the Heat going to get one game every week on ABC/TNT/ESPN? And they might as well cancel "Fan Voting Night" on Tuesdays on NBATV and just change it to "Heat Night".

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet in this colossal thread but this whole situtation presents Kobe with an amazing opportunity to boost his legacy. If he can beat Miami (if they get to the Finals) and then Miami goes on to win 5-6 straight titles - man that's some stuff.

With all the holds and what not, I think the number will be around 4.6m in cap space. I may be wrong.
