Honestly, I think he would never recover from that. We would be looking at a guy who we thought would be in the upper echelon of Jordan, Magic and Bird at the end of his career TO being in the group of Dominque Wilkins, George Gervin and Charles Barkley. Guys who were great talents but could never put their team over the hump.

And his brand/image? His brand has taken a hit in the last couple of weeks, if the presented situation happens, you could probably throw his brand in the garbage.

Now as I said, this is a hypothetical. I believe the Heat can(and probably will) beat the Bulls in the playoffs. But if the Bulls won that series not only are you looking at one of the greatest upsets of all time but you are looking at a player take his image into the furthest depths of hell.
If, and when that does happen, I will probably soil myself...multiple times. Then die of laughter as LeBron storms off the court like a little baby back beeatch.

I'm telling you, that would be the basketball news of the decade. I wonder if he would do an hour long special on where he would like to be traded to?

That could quite possibly go down and history as one of the biggest storylines in the history of NBA basketball...and would return Miami to reality as the next season AAA would be half full once again...ahh the joy that would bring.

Let the LeBron Heat jersey burning begin. Lol.

Yeah saw that back then. It's not really much different from the way that Windhorst described the situation. It's kinda clear with how everything went down though that this is pretty much what happened or at least VERY close to it.

Well, he's been reporting on the NBA for a while so I guess he's getting info from his contacts like any other reporter would. Not to say it's true or false(that's up to you to decide) but it does sound believable.

The part of the article on Derrick Rose was my favorite. It gave me much more respect for him as a ball player and competitor
For everything the Bulls tried to sell – from owner Jerry Reinsdorf to GM Gar Forman to coach Tom Thibodeau – there had been one thing that troubled James’ about the Bulls pitch: Derrick Rose(notes) never called and tried to recruit him.

Chicago officials never directly requested Rose to reach out with a call, and the young point guard felt James could’ve always reached out to him had he wanted to discuss the possibility of playing together. James needed to be courted, needed to be wooed and apparently it surprised him there was a star who wasn’t falling over himself to do that.
Rose is his own man and he ain't about to kiss nobody's *** to come ask them to play for the Bulls. That's the mentality of a superstar!

Yeah, that's what made me feel so good about the whole situation...I think I actually had mentioned that earlier.

Love that Rose wasn't a homer and said that if you wanted to play here, you could of contacted me. Great stuff Derrick. That is why I love you.

Rose may have the "mentality of a superstar", but actual superstars are unselfish enough to ask for help.

There is a difference between being a homer and calling and texting and begging someone to come play for you, and asking the front office to make a change.

But since the Bulls had enough cap room to make some noise wasn't it a forgone conclusion that he was going to get some help? He didn't really need to ask for it. There's a reason why everyone thought the Bulls were the front runners to land James before the FA officially kicked off...that roster is primed and ready for a few pieces that would put them on the right track to a deep playoff run...say...a big to throw the ball down low too, demand some double teams and open things up a little for the perimeter players, and a couple of shooters on the perimeter as well. All things that complement Rose's game.

So why would he trip all over himself to recruit LBJ?

True. But at the same time Rose knows that if LeBron wants to come here then he would have came. Does LeBron really need to be coddled by the team's current superstar to come play? LeBron is a grown *** man(well, I think he is) and he should be able to make a reasonable choice on his own to play for the Bulls or not.

BUT in the sense of the superstar mentality, yes, they want help to win. BUT they still want to be THE MAN at the same time. And Derrick did get his help in Carlos Boozer. And this was before THE DECISION was made.

Not really. It'd mean an offseason full of media and OS talk of things like that, and then the next season would start where Miami would be the favorites again. LBJ's only 25 so he'd have to fail multiple times in Miami before those comparisons gain any momentum. Personally, I don't think the Heat are winning anything next year and wouldn't be surprised if they got upset before reaching the finals. The year after next is a different story though.
