Re: The LeBron James Saga
Well what was Lebron's excuse? Everybody knows that Kobe quit a couple times. He caught slack for that and rightfully so. But Bron does it and people are giving him a pass.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: The LeBron James Saga
You really want to blame Kobe for that situation? Look at what he had around him outside of Odom - Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton?
Meanwhile LeBron's supporting cast was good enough to help the Cavs get to 61 wins, yet all of a sudden they stink when LeBron decides to quit? Don't sugar coat it, he quit on his team. It's pretty hard for any team to win when your star player decides to pack it in on you.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Saga
His track record of leading his mediocre Cavs teams to wins and even to the Finals one year should overshadow him playing very badly during a few games in the second round. But for whatever reason or agenda (Kobe or MJ stan, LeBron hate, Heat hate, etc.) this Celtics series defines LeBron for certain people.
If one game (or was it two?) of refusing to shoot in the playoffs, multiple meltdowns and calling out of teammates off-the-court and in public, and one almost intentionally blown NBA Finals against the Pistons doesn't define Kobe Bryant as a loser, why should one bad series against the Celtics on a mediocre Cavs team define LeBron James?Comment

Re: The LeBron James Saga
How many of you think the Delonte West story is true?
Because I do and I honestly think that's why LeBron played the way he did against the Celtics. Imagine that situation and how it would effect your game, being played in front of millions of people. Even the strongest willed would crumble.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Saga
No win situation, when he was jacking up shots he had to deal with being selfish & when he started passing the ball same thing just it was his ego in place.
It was awful watching knowing he let the media & his ego allow him to quit on his team & he caught slack for that without a doubt.
I wish he had balanced it out the way he did in the Lakers wins that series, take over when he was suppose to & get the others involve often and early.
LeBron took it to a whole other level & it showed more because that offense was mostly LeBron isolate while the others sit around waiting for him to get them involved.
Considering his offensive gm was tooled around the offense, he jus sat back & watched when he quit, didn't try to hide it one bit. That's a big no no, after all it was working two plus yrs when his team was dancing around to back to back 60+ win seasons.
When they lose it's the lack of help from his teammates & that just doesn't fly in my eyes. His job as the superstar of that team & offensive gameplan was to do what he did in the regular season the past 2 yrs. Get them involved, build up their confidence, and take over the gm.
It's not their fault, the main guy quit. As a result that offense fell apart & guys where forced into bigger roles then they could fill, and that team went as he went so when he quit it wasn't a surprise they also quit domino affect.
Kobe was more focused on : His ego of these scrubs can't win without me.
LeBron was more focused on : This summer, His Brand & His ego of he is bigger then the gm.
Either way they were both equally wrong, one took the slack & the other one ppl have so many excuses for.

Re: The LeBron James Saga
It doesn't matter if there are a group of poorly trained monkies operating beside you there is absolutely NO excuse for quitting. People pay good, damn good money to see these guys perform and giving less than your one hundred percent effort is inexecusable. You can maybe possibly get away with it in the regular season but certainly not in the playoffs and everyone who's ever done it has gotten blasted for it, so I don't see why people continue to bring Kobe's name into this to try and get LeBron a pass. Kobe got his *** chewed to pieces over it so why LeBron is above being blasted over it is just a mystery to me.
Two wrongs don't make it right, is the main point. Those LeBron fans who point out that Kobe did the same - doesn't make it any more right for LeBron to have done it. LeBron was wrong, Kobe was wrong. Period.
And make no mistake - it wasn't 'he had a few bad games'. He quit on them. Watch Game 5 again, and knowing what we know now, there's no doubt in my mind that's what happened.Last edited by rangerrick012; 08-12-2010, 12:47 PM.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Saga
I wasn't giving Kobe an out - a quitter is a quitter, that's true. But the same folks giving LeBron an out are blasting Kobe. That's what I was agreeing with and saying if ANYONE had an excuse it would be Kobe not Lebron. But I'm on the same page as you, quitting is inexcusable. I was just pointing to the hypocrisy of those who blame LeBron's cast, while blasting Kobe and ignoring the fact his cast was even poorer.
