Come on guys , have your opinion. Thats not the first time this happened in this forum and i truly hate it .
P.S Some of you even compared him to Jordan and some of you EVEN SAID HE IS BETTER
And now all of the sudden...
I'm only replying to this bc I feel like people feel this way about many things on a message board and it's a bit short sighted. Are you sure the SAME people that criticized you are now agreeing with you? Probably not. There are probably people that agreed with you but didn't feel like getting in the argument, or maybe thought you said your point well enough to not post about it. And then there were others that disagreed that are still disagreeing today, or may still not agree but obviously don't have much recent history to support their argument.

It's not that people change their minds left and right, it's more that different people speak up at different times. It's often that people speak up when they have something to back their argument. Right now, your argument has a lot more meat behind it so more are speaking on it.

If Kobe Bryant and all the hate and PR backlash he receieved for an entire year in 2004 for adultry and the alleged Rape incident could change his number and become one of the most respected and well liked players in the NBA again, then LeBron can clearly pass this time of dislike by eventually.

Nothing lasts forever and real recognizes real. LeBron James will one day be liked as long as he does nothing criminal. That's my belief.
Kobe STFU, that's the difference. He didn't continue giving reason after reason to remind people of why they started hating him. The situation was different too bc it was a personal matter, but James continues to display behavior that brings about the negative feelings people have had since the preseason celebration, since the Decision, since the "Recruiting Tour", since the disappearing act against Boston that seemed like he'd already quit the team, since he started talking in 3rd person and calling himself the King, since we first saw the "Chosen One" tattoo. Time isn't passing bc he's keeping these feelings alive and making them stronger in some.

Well I saw where he was going with that before he caught himself and brought it back a bit... then it became more PC and he kept talking and went closer and closer toward where it seemed like he started going, so my opinion is it was the first of your two options for that reason. But even if we were to say it's the second, is that a good message?

" I'm getting more publicity than the team that won, and it's not costing me a dime. " that prob explained why he had the # 1 selling jersey *this year and has a billion dollar empire.... Just saying.
So just remember this , every time you tweet, post, or whatever , his pocketbook is getting bigger. So while you slum from 9- 5 , he's sipping a drink on the beach smiling and in a sublime kind of way thanking you.
If he were the type to really not care, there wouldn't be so many issues. He does care and that's the problem. And doesn't have anywhere close to a billion dollar empire... something he's well aware of, as well as the hit that dream took with his most recent performance.

I wonder if he would trade in those amazing games he had in previous rounds vs The Celtics or Bulls....

Speaking more on Kobe rebuilding his image, if we even want to call it that. Some point to the titles, but I think if the Heat won 2 titles the James hate wouldn't go away... it might get worse. I think with Kobe, he (eventually) STFU and Lebron just keeps putting his foot in his mouth. Not to mention, James has done and is doing things that directly get under the skin of many fans. What Kobe was accused of doing just touches on individual moral issues. Comparing their personalities doesn't make sense bc really, only die hard NBA fans know the depths of Kobe's "issues" while Lebron's are out there for people who can't even name 3 current players.

Wasnt right away that he got quiet.. he lost endorsements, ticket sales in LA were down, etc...

then he went on the radio rant about the ower, gm, teammates,etc.. said he'd rather play on the moon, even got booed in the beginning of the season at staples

Thing is he had hordes of fans out there defending everything he did no matter what it was... changed his number and had the #1 selling jersey

                        Same as LeBron right now

Winning gets people talking about other stuff.. if LeBron just continues to get better, go about his business and wins right then some of this ridiculousness will calm down...except for cleveland, they just lost their one and only love

                          Re: The LeBron James Thread

I didn't like LeBron when he played for the Cavs and I hated the Cavs while he was there but I did respect him as a great player, the way he handled leaving Cleveland to go to Miami was really poor and even as someone who hated the Cavs and didn't like LeBron much either it made me pretty much flat out hate him.

This years finals was actually pretty funny, you have Dirk who has stuck in Dallas throughout his entire career and is beloved by his fanbase and I don't think hes really disliked much throughout the NBA, then you have LeBron who tries to take the easy way out by joining up with another superstar and star in Miami, who vilified himself against the city of Cleveland and a large portion the rest of NBA fans.

Essentially what you see happening with Dirk right now could have been LeBron's legacy had he stayed in Cleveland, he may not have won a title immediately (but hey he didn't in Miami either) but he wouldn't be viewed as the villain he is either. For me at least I can't help but respect a player who sticks it out with a franchise and eventually brings a championship there, I lose respect when a player tries to take the easy way out and take the easy way to a ring.

Of course at the end of the day what I think of a player means nothing, if LeBron thinks he has a better shot in Miami then by all means go there, but you have to wonder if he could do it all over again after finding out making it back to the Finals this time with a much better supporting cast and coming up short yet again that if he could go back and hit reset, if he would stay in Cleveland, doubt he would have a ring still but he wouldn't be the hated person he is with the way he handled himself this offseason and ultimately I'm sure he would eventually have gotten a ring there and would be the most beloved player in franchise history as opposed to the most hated.

LeBron's quote about the people cheering against him still having their own personal problems while he lives his great life (paraphrasing) just proves everything has gotten to him, sure whatever problems those of us who dislike him have in life are still our problems, but ultimately his problem of still being ringless is his reality as well.

I think winning a chip kinda quiets the haters. If you cant respect a mans game after he wins it all, then there must be some underlying hatred for a player that goes beyond basketball.

I'm sure if the Heat were the world champs today then alot of that hate would of turned into respect.

Dont get me wrong, there would still be some Lebron hate but alot of props would be due as well.

I'll just leave some advice for Mr. James in light of that comment...

"'Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt."

So from now on do the 'Sheed. "Both teams played hard, thank you and goodnight." Say NOTHING else...EVER.

True, but I don't think things started to die down until he shut up either. I also think the situations are different. I don't think Kobe's "issues" were as close to attacking fans so it makes it easier for fans to forget.

I also don't know if your view may be a bit skewed out there in the belly of the beast. Over on the East coast, the Kobe talk in general died down pretty quickly once it started to die down.

This helps, but I just don't see that being true with Lebron... especially after his performance in the finals. Now if the Heat won the ring and he played like he did against Chicago, then people may have quieted up a bit. But considering the way everything played out, I don't think so. Next year is a different season (hopefully) and they could win it all and he could be the MVP. But he could do a series of other incredibly stupid things that rub fans the wrong way too. That's why I think it's different with him. He's STILL pissing people off.
