So we gonna pretend like the Cavs didn't have an ownership change during the LeBron era? That every inept move was under Dan Gilbert's watch? Then blame the Cavs for Boozer screwing them the way he did? Come on y'all.

The only really inept move that wasn't under Gilbert was letting Boozer walk, and he didn't screw anyone, the Cavs chose not to match the better offer he got from Utah, they didn't have a right to him just because of a verbal agreement, that's not how business works, he's getting offered twice as much money to go somewhere else it's ridiculous to ask him not to take it just because you don't feel like matching the offer.

We couldnt match the offer, Paxson and Gund didnt extend a qualifying offer to Boozer, so he could of went anywhere he wanted. We couldnt match the offer, just agree to put up more. The Paxson era only did one thing right, and that was drafting LBJ. All of his moves were idiotic, especially trading a 1st for Jiri Welsch(pick led to Rajon Rondo for PHX).

With Ferry and Gilbert, they did the best they could to get players around Lebron. In 05 when we had a ton of cap, we went after Ray Allen and Michael Redd, both chose to stay with their teams for more money. Larry Hughes was overpaid, but his defense as well as scoring at times helped us reached the finals in 07. Then the trade in 08 helped to get our team some more scoring with Delonte, as well as Big Ben who was still solid defensively. Then that summer we got Mo williams for Damon Jones and Joe Smith, and then Shaq in 09(a move I didnt like). Then we got Jamison after PHX didnt want to trade Amare. The Cavs tried to build around Lebron, but it takes two to tango. Amare was our best shot, but who could blame PHX for not taking our deal really.

Then that offseason we had deal in place for Bosh, and almost a deal for Baron and Kaman. The only thing stopping the Bosh deal was Bosh and we should know why.

Look now with Gilbert and Grant, we have a franchise player IMO in Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson who can be a very good PF in this league. We have two 1sts and two 2nds in this draft, we have things set to help continue to build our team.

Blaming Gilbert is wrong IMO, he did everything he could to help build a championship and now he is showing patience and commitment with the rebuild. I think a lot of teams would want an owner like Gilbert.

Gilbert tried to get Lebron a championship "now". IMO, he should have just built his team. However, I think he believed in LBJ and IMO put too much trust in him. Also, Lebron didn't just need another good player, he needed a all star legend like Wade to win. The way players are today, the cavs aren't getting someone to come to them unless they pay godly type money or draft a star. because players today want the big city lights to spend all their money at.

One thing is for sure. LBJ killed his image here in Ohio where he was born and raised. That's got to suck.....

Gilbert seams to be doing a great job rebuilding IMO. I think Kyrie Irving will be something very very special in the future. Time will tell.

I'm not sorry LBJ left. After I saw the decision,

So the FIXED NBA felt bad for him and gave him the #1 pick? and he took the consensus #1 pick therefore he is "going a great job rebuilding?"

Agreed wheelman about trying to win a championship now, but I liked going that route because LBJ signed that short contract extension. The FO basically had to turn water into wine with the moves they had to make, plus the old FO trading picks. We only had 1 lottery pick in the LBJ era, we couldnt rebuild in a traditional way IMO. I think Gilbert has learned that you cant let a player dictate the decisions you make. ORL stuck in a situation now, and UTH traded Williams before going through a similar situation. JWall, Gilbert was owner when we made it to the finals. We also got the #1 pick with the Clippers pick, not our own, so I doubt it was fixed.

Fixed or not (makes little since to fix the draft for Cleveland... no offense to Cleveland folk but there really isn't a reason for the NBA to try to bump them up, especially since they can't also get free agents to go there, but anyway) a trade had to be made to get that pick and that happened on Gilbert's watch. I don't know if I'd say he's doing a "great" job before or after, but saying he hasn't done crap is a bit extreme.

                  Re: Dan Gilbert.

So just to sum things up for new readers. It's easy to win an NBA title and it's easy to get a second guy alongside THE guy on your team and no matter how a player looks/plays throughout the course of the season, you suck if you don't win.

There, now we're all up to speed.

Of any member in the NBA 'family' THIS GUY is the guy i would put effort into avoiding at all costs. After 'meeting' Gilbert via the press post decision I questioned how anyone could wonder why LeBron left Cleveland.

Or rather not leaving Cleveland but rather leaving Dan Gilbert.

Who wants to work with this guy?

Thanks for the cole's notes King_B LOL!

On a side note, i think the Cavs are gonna be a fun team to watch with Beal, Irving and Thompson growing into stars together

LeBron and Powe never played on the same high school team. Powe played high school ball in Oakland.

A large part of the problem was Gilbert let Lebron do whatever he wanted including bringing his entourage around with him. Not sure what the isolated incident did to help you form such a strong opinion but I think the 7 years of babying James should trump that.

And, of course, Beal isn't a Cav.
