Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

He will be good but not on the level of shaq

let's not forget that Bynum is barely 22 years old and better than 2 of those guys already

as for Cousins, c'mon man, lol...he's going to be another Stanely Roberts or Stromile Swift. Young NBA fans can get so easily hyped. Lots of guys in the NBA have athleticism and amazing potential, that's why they're in the NBA in the first place!! Jeez, let's not get carried away with summer league performances.

I think some of the comments about Cousins made throughout this thread are funnier than the OP's Shaq comparison.

          Plays below the rim?
          Is a finesse player?
          Is similar to DC?

Re: Is DeMarcus Cousins the next Shaq?

I'm sure that Cousins will carve out his own niche if he reaches his full potential. But, the Shaq comparison is completely unjustified. People should really refrain from making statements like "the next...." since they hardly come true. Here are few that I remember throughout my NBA fandom:

            The next:

            Larry Bird is

            Keith Van Horn........no
            Adam Morrison.........no

            Michael Jordan

            Harold Miner........no
            Vince Carter........no

            Karl Malone

            Carlos Boozer........no

            Earvin "Magic" Johnson

            Anfernee Hardaway..........no

Do you notice a pattern being established here? We'll that's because these illogical comparison never come to pass and people are left disappointed. They should just appreciate every individual player for who they are.

Oh, and Shaq was far from the most athletic center ever. I'd say that Hakeem, Wilt and David - in their own athletic primes - were all more athletic than Shaquille in his prime. I'd also dispute that M.D.E. bull**** Shaq likes to spew since he never will player every great center ever.

Re: Is DeMarcus Cousins the next Shaq?

Until LeBron came around, Shaq was the best athlete I'd ever seen on the court.

Shaq's quickness was closer to matching Hakeem's quickness than Hakeem's power was to matching Shaq's power. I give Shaq the edge over Dream.

David Robinson was pretty much lesser than Shaq at everything except physique, as Bill Simmons said - no one looked more like a basketball player than David Robinson.

As for Wilt, yeah, no way he was anywhere near as strong as Shaq.

Please, show me the highlight of Shaq doing a 360* dunk during in-game action (not that all-star game crap). Shaq was a great combination of size, strength and athleticism in his physical prime. That still doesn't mean he was the most athletic big man ever. I'd even say that based solely on athletics that Dwight Howard is superior to Shaquille. Shaquille was just massive in a way that wasn't seen since Chamberlain.

First off that dunk is a 270, he doesn't even complete his turn. Secondly, how is one singular play considered the be-all, end-all to this debate? Please, show me the highlight of Robinson doing what Shaq did in the mix posted earlier in this thread. There are about 50 clips in the Shaq mix that are much more impressive displays of athleticism than Robinson's 270 you posted.

And based on the fact that you said Duhwight is a better athlete than Shaq, you must simply hate Shaq. Duhwight is in no way a better athlete than Shaq was. And the fact that you're a Spurs fan, I guess that explains the Robinson homerism.

Yes DeMarcus Cousins is the next Shaq...

and Dominque Jones will go down as the best Pure Shooter of all time.

First of all, I've been waiting a long time for someone to revive the rock-the-cradle dunk in an NBA game (I'm looking at you Terrence Williams). Hopefully that summer slam is a stepping stone for McGee's forthcoming NBA cradle.

Speaking of which, does McGee's body type and dunking style not look like an evolutionary Larry Nance?

I'm the biggest Cousins fan of them all but the answer is no. However, I would not be surprised if he averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds a game one day. The guy is a load.
