I agree, they're gonna rock and sweep all the teams. They're out for blood after losing last year. I just wish they had it on tv that I don't have to pay for.

Please... spare us the overconfidence. They BETTER bring their A-Game beacuse no team will backdown from them. I have no doubts they will win the Gold in the upcoming Olimpic Qualifier but that kind of overconfidence was what took that team to not 1 but 3 defeats in last years Championships.

Granted, this years team is FARRRRRRRRRRR better from that team, specially downlow where only J. O'neal had a semblance of a post up game.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Last year's team wasn't overconfident, It was brought down by George Karl's ineptness at bringing together the players as a team. If anyone was overconfident, it was the US, sending only one player who was top five NBA at his position, Paul Pierce. Other than him, there was no scoring. This year you have all top players (although personally I think PP should be there instead of VC) , no shortage of scoring, and a more capable coach.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Mike, me being a C's fan, I can only agree with you. PP was the only player who played like a REAL nba player. Since I will attend the upcoming tourney I would have loved that PP made the team, but at the same time, he will be more fresh for this season.

USA amd PR played a scrimage game last night in wich the USA won. Scoring was not kept, but the press here PR say that the USA won opened the game up in the 4th and won by 20+. Comments from the Dream Team players can be found at www.usabasketball.com

For the USA. Karl Malone didn't play and for PR, Danny Santiago(former Sun and recently singned with the Bucks) didn't play.

Should be a good game tonight at the Garden.

They aren't playing tonight because of the black out . The game has been postponed till Sunday afternoon. Oh well, I guess that gives me more time to play Madden .

The team will prob win gold in 2004, but i bet there will be some games were they win by less than 10 points or worse. american ball players are too cocky, that has showed last few years. actually americans in general are too cocky And any non-americans on this board would agree with that stattement.

Madison Square Garden still without electricity
                              Associated Press

NEW YORK -- The U.S. Olympic men's basketball team's exhibition game against Puerto Rico scheduled for Friday night was postponed until Sunday afternoon because of lingering blackout conditions at Madison Square Garden.

The game will be played at noon EDT, USA Basketball spokesman Craig Miller said.

The Garden was still without electricity at around noon Friday, and the subways in New York City were not yet running. More than 16,000 tickets were sold for the game, with many of the buyers coming from the city's large Puerto Rican community.

On Thursday night, the blackout that hit the Northeast forced the postponement of one major league baseball game -- the San Francisco Giants at the New York Mets -- WNBA games in New York and Cleveland, one minor league baseball game in Toledo, and a Canadian Football League in Toronto.

The United States basketball team, mostly NBA All-Stars, scrimmaged Puerto Rico on Thursday and was done for the day by the time the blackout hit in the afternoon.

Some of the players had trouble getting back to midtown Manhattan after playing golf, while others spent time Thursday night milling about their hotel lobby and playing cards with other guests, Miller said.

The players were able to gain access to their rooms with key cards powered by a backup generator, but there was no air conditioning or lighting. Power was restored at the hotel at about 4:30 a.m.

The U.S. team still plans to leave Monday for San Juan, where it will begin play in the 10-team Olympic qualifying tournament Aug. 20 against Brazil.

The top three teams in that tournament will earn berths in the 2004 Athens Games
