Oh and to get this back on the subject of Melo, trade talks(as if there were really any at all)are pretty much dead at this point until the Nuggets FO know for sure that Melo wants to go and they here it from HIS mouth.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I feel out of the three situations Kobe is definitely the worst. Signing a new long term contract to have the team built around you and crying and asking for a trade when it doesn't go your way. Melo isn't as bad he's just saying he won't resign with the team and if they want to get some talent for him they can do that. Lebron finished his contract and didn't cry or moan during his tenure there.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
The Nuggets haven't yet placed All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony on the trade block.
ESPN.com's Marc Stein is reporting that Denver is not close to trading Anthony.
"That status could certainly change before NBA teams open training camps later this month, should [general manager Masai] Ujiri prove unsuccessful in his forthcoming attempt(s) to convince Anthony to sign the three-year, $65 million contract extension that the Nuggets, right around the June draft, believed Melo was on the verge of accepting," Stein wrote.
Teams have certainly called the Nuggets about Anthony, but Denver hasn't been listening to offers.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I think the "Huh?" was about how you read Jeebs9's post... and I think your last reply shows you see that's what he was getting at.
As for the other part, you're both on the same side of disagreeing with jeebs9... no need to argue the details to the extent of turning this into yet another Lebron thread. Unless you haven't already made the same points in one of the many Lebron threads (not likely).
That's what I meant. The situations are different (imo too), jeebs9 is saying they're not. We can all stand together against him.
There is even "out of no where" post about the "obvious"...Man doesn't even play in the NBA and he talking about the obvious...lol You ever played the game of telephone?...**** gets ****ed up by the time we get it.
But its still the same situation to me. If you cut away from the BS. And just thinking about each players situation. Where their teams stood in the league.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Yea I don't care about contracts when your a superstar and have to worry about your legacy in the long run. If a superstar wants out. He will eventually get his way. That's why its not really a life binding contract. "Contracts can be broken."
LeBron situation...Best record during the regular season the last 2 years (not to mention back to back MVP's). Lost in Eastern Conference. Then the year after lost in the second round (to Celtics). Even with added players nothing changed. And it seem nothing was going to change either (roster wise).
Carmelo situation...Been to playoffs every year he been in the league. 2009 made it to the Western Conference and lost. This year make it to the playoffs as usually. But get knocked out in the first round.
Kobe situation...after losing the finals to Detroit. Miss the playoffs the year after (I think). Then had 2 straight year of making the playoffs 8 and 7 seed. And losing to the PHX in the first round both times.
Superstars losing and want to make a change. Same situation to me.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Jeebs you're not really getting it brotha.
You have one player who left after his contract was fulfilled, and another who still has a year left asking for a trade before the season has started.
Come on man.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I really got no problem w/ Anthony doing what he is doing right now. Time is a precious resource that in his world you cannot get back. He I guess feels he has done as much for the Nuggets as he could w/ what is around him, and I guess would rather not waste time from his career in a situation he otherwise feels won't bring him a championship. I mean is the issue that he doesn't want to live in the mountains, doesn't want his kids going to Denver schools, hates being on mountain time? No. Dude wants to go where he feels he can win.
For everything we expect a contract to be, its sole function is to outline pay terms. Having a contract w/ a team doesn't prohibit a player from seeking a trade. I know I'd like to control my own destiny if I was a superstar in the NBA, and not have it decided on who has enough cap room to sign me.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
What happened to players winning in their original teams?
I for one am kinda sick of players "wanting to win" and signing with teams who end up always being good.
there needs to be a hard cap. Lets see how much less anybody really would take to be on a superstar squadComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
As for your post, when we talk about the all-time greats: Magic, Isaiah, Larry, West, MJ, Stockton, Malone, etc. etc. who have stayed primarily with one team, I guess you along with many others conveniently ignore the fact that they were all surrounded by HOF talent.
I laugh every time I hear posts like yours.
"OMG this new age is so wack, they would have never done that in the past" blah blah blah blah blah blah
If you want to win championships, you can't just do it on your own. Simple fact.
Things might be different if LeBron, CP3 of any of these guys were gifted another superstar via free agency/draft/trade. Not every superstar is gifted a Pau Gasol.Comment
