No place would be an improvement to Denver's current situation.

Melo screwed up by demanding a trade as an expiring contract.

If he was in say, year two of a 5 year contract, the Knicks would probably already have him. Curry's contract is seen as a good asset in this case, whereas in reality, Curry's contract means that instead of paying Melo $17 million, they're paying Chandler or Gallo $17 million.

This is made worse when the main suitors have no second contract guys. NJ and New York are stuck with rookie contract guys, but still have to make up the $17 million Melo is owed.

Depending on what we give up. Houston would definitely be an improvement. Take a team that was over .500 last year, add a healthy Yao, Kevin Martin for the ENTIRE year (we only got him in February), and a guy named Carmelo Anthony... that situation is greater than what he has in Denver.

That wouldn't be a team that was over .500 last year.

That would be a team that was over .500 minus their three leading scorers (Scola and Brooks for Melo and Ariza).

It would be two of the most injured players in the league and Carmelo.

Kevin Martin for the entire year and a healthy Yao are like Florida State football. In the preseason it's great but then reality comes.

If we were to somehow get Melo without having to give up Devin, Favors or Brook then that would definitely be an improvement(on paper at least)or probably the "best case scenario without getting worse" move.

If NJ gets Melo without giving Devin, Favors, or Lopez Denver's GM is absolutely crazy.

Agreed! ... you will never get equal value for a superstar ... unless, you trade him straight for another superstar ... but you dont never ever trade an incomming FA superstar for scrubs and role players ... worse case, you do a sign and trade for a mid level exception or let him walk and take the cap relief for persuing other significant players.

Yeah, I'll have my torch and pitchfork in hand if we trade him to NJ and don't get 2 of those 3 guys (I'd love Brook and Harris, but would also like Favors and Harris + T-Will)... I have my eye on Williams and hope he ends up here if the Nets are the route Denver goes, looks like he's got a lot of potential. We absolutely need a big though, either Brook or Favors... anything less is unacceptable.

2 out of those 3 ?? Favors, Harris, + TWill ?? We're not trading our main core for the future for Melo.

                  Trade won't happen.

You won't trade the second and third best players and a complete unknown from a 12 win team to acquire an All NBA player and the center piece of team that's won 50+ in the West the last 3 years?

Harris, Lopez, and TWill are really the only ones from that 12-win team. We had horrible coaching then, bad ownership, a bad arena, and everything else was bad.

Now, we got Mikhail Prokhorov, Avery Johnson and his good coaching staff, lots of picks, money(from MP), and new players like Farmar, Morrow and Favors.

Harris is tradeable, but Lopez and Favors are good young talent, as is Terrence Williams.

I'm not saying I don't want Melo, I'm saying I want Melo with most of the core this team already has. I mean, if he comes to a team without any other role players, he'll just sign elsewhere at the end of the season.

If we get Melo and trade away these young players, we're back to rebuilding.

Nets would trade Harris, Favors, and draft picks for Melo in a heartbeat. They don't want to trade Lopez.

                        C- Lopez
                        PF- Murphy
                        SF- Melo
                        SG- Morrow/Terrence Williams
                        PG- Farmar

That team is probably the #4 seed in the East but could really challenge anyone in the East besides the Heat.

Scola isn't being traded, not with his contract, age, plus Denver will be rebuilding then. I don't know what Scola would bring there. I don't see Scola going in any trade involving the Nuggets. Scola is a big time player

Any ways, all the Rockets would need is for Yao and Martin to play the post-season. Yao is usually there for post-season, history shows that.

Depending on the trade and what the Rockets give up, yes they can be better than Denver. Especially if they say give up Martin and keep Brooks.

                              QFT.

I'm all for trading for Melo but if it means we have gut the core of our roster to get him, then I'd rather wait and just let these young dudes develop.

And the lineup posted a few posts up would get destroyed by Miami, Boston and probably Orlando since we'd have no bench at all. Good lineup for a 1st Rd Series win but after that you can toss it out the window.

I'd rather replace Favors with Damion James, Kris Humphries, and cash.
