Frank Isola said the Knicks turned down an offer from Denver last night...

      Felton
      Gallo
"another starter" (so Fields or Chandler presumably)
      Eddy Curry
At least one 1st round pick

Carmelo Anthony could have become a member of the Knicks on Monday night.

New York president Donnie Walsh turned down an offer from Denver that one team official classified as "steep."

According to a team source, "there is a deal to be made" but the most recent machination wasn't to Walsh's liking.

The Nuggets offered Anthony and Chauncey Billups to the Knicks for Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Eddy Curry and at least one first-round pick.

The New York Daily News writes that the Nuggets are focusing on the Knicks and Bulls, with the Mavericks and Rockets as wild cards.

I haven't been follow this because I'm pretty much sick of all the talking. So now they are trading for Bullips and Felton in this trade?

Honestly, its time for Denver to cut their loses and implement plan B.

The Nuggets are too inconsistent and it looks like all of their air has been knocked out of them.

NY is not going to allow Denver to rape them for Melo and Denver had better understand that ((while I get they want as much as possible), I doubt they'll see equal return in this trade...

It really shouldn't even be too much back and forth since the fans are tired of it, and the players are showing they are as well.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony (NY or Bust?) Thread

I don't even think NY is getting "raped" in that trade. You get Billups in return for Felton. Melo in return for Gallo. Give up a 1st round pick that will likely be a mid-late 1st(definitely not a lottery pick) and Chandler or Fields. Curry is just a throw in to make the money work. I don't know if NY realizes that they're trading for Carmelo Anthony or not, but I would've signed on the dotted line on that one.

I understand they're trying to keep their roster intact, and who knows, 6 months from now they could look like geniuses if Melo signs with NY as a FA, but I wouldn't even take the risk of him signing elsewhere(even if the chances are slim). Just make the trade happen and get it over with. You're giving up some decent players, but they're just guys. This is Carmelo Anthony.

Yea 23... I could only imagine for the players on each team. That feeling of "this could be my last game with this team".

I dont believe Felton is that up and coming. Everyone knows that he's just a place holder until 2012 when NY was going to go after Paul or Williams. I'd take Billups for the next two years over Felton. I would have made that deal in a heartbeat.

I just don't see Bullips as an improvement over Felton right now. But that's just my opinion.

I agree, not only is felton playing great on the offensive end, but he's also one of the best defenders on the team...

On a team that doesn't play defense, thats not saying much.

Felton had an all-star worthy year. Why would you trade him in the hopes of landing Paul or Williams especially with a new CBA looming. He will never be Williams or Paul ,but he is more than good enough to lead a championship team.

The Knicks are showing they actually have somebody with some brains running the team now. They was very smart in turning that deal done. Not only is Felton arguably the better player right now he makes half of what Billups does. There is no way I'm paying Billups 14 mil when I have Felton for 7 mil. If they would have taken that trade with Melo signing the extension they would have close to 60 million dollars tied up in Amare,Melo, and Billups for next year. They wouldn't have any money left to even fill out the roster. They would have to sign a bunch of guys for the league minimum.

Plus let's face it if a guy had to choose who to sign with for the VLM between Miami and NY they are taking Miami. A lineup of Billups, Fields(if not a part of the trade), Melo, Amare and some league minimum center and no bench to speak of what so ever doesn't sound anything close to a championship team to me.
