"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
Sept-Jan no one (including Denver) said we had any pieces to make a deal for someone like Melo. They wouldn't even talk to the Knicks because we had nothing of value. Now we got raped and/or overpaid?
We basically gave up Gallo and Moz for the best scorer in the league and for the short-term improved our point guard situation.Comment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
Yup that's the rumour but it's not done. Denver can really restock using Melo.Comment

There is no universe where Chauncey Billups is an upgrade over Raymond Felton this year.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
The problem was Denver was willing to not trade Melo, they called his bluff on him passing on his extension and walking in the offseason. The man wasn't leaving $20 million on the table, it just wasn't going to happen. I'm sure WWW/Leon Rose were in Dolan's ear the last two weeks saying this was the only chance the Knicks had to land Melo."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
They would have never done that, unless maybe the Knicks stuck to the original offer of Curry, Chandler, and a pick from Randolph, then they might say it's not worth it. But there had to be some middle ground between getting basically nothing, and getting everything they watned.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
did NYK get anything in return from Minnesota? I think they made out well. They still get to have 1st round picks for the next 3 years to fill out their roster.Comment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
Felton REALLY hasn't played that great this year out of the 13 of 14 game winning streak. I don't know what your infatuation is with him.
His decision making, both passing and shot selection, is pretty damn average. In the post season, when games become more half-court oriented, I'll still take Chauncey. Better shooter, better decision maker and obviously the man is clutch."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The Carmelo Anthony (NY or Bust?) Thread
Carmelo should be in NY for a fun pass metro card in NYC lol. Denver made out well.
But if Isaiah is back in Knick offices I'm jumping ship when the Brooklyn arena is built. No chance with that guy running things.Comment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
It doesn't seem like NY gets anything from Minny. NY most likely won't have their 2012 pick (traded to Houston, top 5 protected).Comment
