Ah, good call. I thought the Cavs balked at the sign and trade and it was just Bosh.

Melo to the Knicks is a perfect fit. He made it clear he wanted to be there and he's the name they were looking for. He also (imo) better fit a spot of need for them. They could've gone chasing after Williams forcing Melo to walk away and ended up not getting a package that would work for Williams either.

He didn't publicly berate anyone (hell he said very little publicly), didn't treat the franchise he was leaving like **** or hide his intentions and tease them into thinking he might stay when he damn well knew he was leaving. He was a straight shooter with Denver and said practically nothing publicly.

Is Melo a bad dude for refusing to sign the ext with the Nets? Hell no. If anything Denver was stupid for wasting their time (and the media was dumb for constantly reporting it) in negotiating a deal with the Nets when they knew Melo was NEVER going to wind up there.
He bought some ad space in the Denver Post apparently to thank the fans here. Somewhat surprised me that he'd go out of his way to do that

I do not beleive so because Melo would not have come here as a FA. So now we have a shot at getting D Will as a FA in 2012 depending on the CBA

Getting D Will now would not have allowed for that

Just because they make millions and we make thousands, doesn't mean they can't want the same things.
Then why the hatred for Lebron who left as a FA, didn't impact 14 other players lives, and wasn't under contract when he changed teams. If Lebron would have done what Melo did during the season, he would be crucified even more than he was for leaving as a FA. If the "Decision" was the only reason for the anger, how silly is that?

Because we had to hear about it for like 4 years prior. "It was written" that he would leave.

I don't understand this logic. Melo didn't do anything. The media said he wanted to do this, and he wanted to do that, but as far as we know, all he did was not sign an extension with the Nuggets(his right) and not sign an extension with the Nets(also his right). If they didn't want to complete the trade without the extension that's their fault, he didn't do anything wrong. He continued to play at a high level for a team that he was going to leave anyway, he didn't quit on them. He did nothing wrong. People were mad about The Decision because many looked at it as giving his hometown the finger.

Or maybe because it was unnecessary but yet folks praise him for doing it. Yet Brett Favre has a press conference announcing his retirement, we call him selfish/attention whore for it. Double Standards FTW.

As for the Melo stuff(which is now going to get beaten to death just like the Lebronathon)I can definitely understand why fans of the Nuggets would be upset about it and they have every right to be. You got your franchise's biggest star(ever?)answering questions about playing for OTHER teams instead of worrying about what's going on with HIS team(remember HE was the one that said back in the Summer if the team was winning then he sign it). At least Lebron kept his mouth shut about it until the Offseason even though the Media kept asking him questions about it but then you got Bmore's Finest right here looking giddy as an 8 year old on Christmas Morning ready to answer any and every question about it.

Yea *****, we know you want to go "home" to play ball and rejuvenate your C-Lister of a Wife's career but you ain't gotta remind us about it every ******' day. Part of it was not his fault because again, you got the Media asking you about it every single day but that don't mean you gotta answer it, every single day.

Now that he's there, he can finally STFU(no John Cena)about it and win a damn ring or at least make it out of the 1st Rd.

Thats one way to look at it.

Ill stick with Melo handled it way better than people give him credit for. Like I said, If he was scoring 13 a night, a rebound, an assist per I could understand the hate. But he was still playing like an Allstar throughout the year, made it pretty clear what he wanted and let the media storm do what they do. Get mad at the Media for pissing you off. Melo can't control everything.

Melo did Denver a favor. He told them he was leaving, which allowed them to get something in return. He also played his *** off in the midst of all the Melodrama and played some of the best ball of his career.

Give the guy a break, he wanted to play at home, he got his wish.

Me personally, it wouldn't matter if he scored a 100 PPG, he still played a role in how poorly he handled it. But then again, I didn't think he or any player have to play a certain way to justify it LOL. Hell, Favre came off an MVP type year in 07 and tried to force his way back into a starting job in GB, but just because he played good then didn't mean what he did was right following that.

What's so difficult about shutting up about it until it happens?(Not that it matters now because it's already done with)

You're right in that he can't control EVERYTHING, but that doesn't mean he can't handle it better than it was. With Lebron, at least he STFU about it.

Melo wasn't playing like an All-Star throughout that ordeal. There were a lot of games where everyone was saying how he had already checked out cause the effort just wasn't there on his part. Just cause dude can walk into a 20+ point night doesn't mean he was out there scrapping to the best of his ability. This is the same thing as the LeBron fiasco in the playoffs. Dudes need to learn how to stop reading boxscores to determine effort. Also as pointed out already, continuing to openly talk about playing elsewhere during the thing was foul on his part and playing the victim about something he pretty much brought on himself didn't help and definitely "tipping his cap to himself" was a bad move. But whatever, what's done is done.

If he picked the Nets you would not have this salty attitude. At least he told the nuggets he wanted out before the season started as his GM stated.

Lebron did no such thing and the Cavs were left empty handed
