Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I'm not saying they don't, but the Nets fit it alot better.
Before it seemed like they wanted just compensation so Houston made sense with all of the depth that they currently have. i.e. martin, battier, brooks, hayes, lee. etc.
Houston has more serviceable veterans than promising young guys(and as a result better players)Comment

Picks: All our own picks, the right to swap picks with NY this year, and we own their 2012 pick outright (limited protection).
That said, I still see NJ as the front-runner. Melo has said he will play there and sign the extension (despite them being worse than Denver), the Nuggets can sell this year's "#2 overall pick" to their franchise easier than just about anything else that other franchises can offer (including my Rockets), he gets to pair with Jay-Z, the Russian billionaire, and has the prospect of moving to BK where LaLa can get her "entertainment career" going.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Here's a turn in events.
Sam Amico of NBA.com is reporting that the Nuggets are looking at three teams as destinations for All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony -- the Nets, Kings and Timberwolves.
"Early word around NBA is Nuggets will try to trade Carmelo to 1 of 3 teams: Wolves, Kings, Nets. In other words, careful what you wish for," Amico wrote on his Twitter page.
The New York Post reported on Saturday morning that the Nets are a "legit" suitor for Anthony.
An NBA executive was quoted as saying that New Jersey as the right pieces to acquire the forward.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Don't really want the Knicks to trade for him. Give up all our young talent and future draft picks for Melo, and we'll be better, but not good enough to win the championship, and are going to have a tough time improving the team. I'd rather just wait and hope he reaches free agency, and if not, go after Paul, or continue to be patient.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I think the Nets are a good fit for Melo. Nice core of young guys, a rich owner, moving to BK... great way to make them a viable destination in the coming years, having a "big" name guy on the squad.
I'd like to see it happen. I would probably run with them in my videogames this year were it to happen, lol.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Melo to the Kings or Wolves? He would really sign an extension in either of those cities?Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Which is why I said he'd be a Net from the beginning. I was just pointing out that the Rockets do have assets by way of young prospects, draft picks, and expiring contracts. Melo to Houston could be done, but looking at that list of destinations, they seem hell bent on putting him on one of the worst teams in the league for the next 3-5 years.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
All that said, I only see Anthony agreeing to sign an extension with one of those teams. That team won't have to give much up, because the other two teams won't break the bank for a half season rental. Congrats NJ.Comment

I'm not all that happy yet. I'll be truly disappointed if they trade either Lopez or Favors.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
While this latest update sucks for Houston, it appears to be coming from Denver's side of things, not Anthony. What do those three teams have in common? They are the three absolute worst teams in their respective conferences (based on last year's record). It seems like the Nuggets want Anthony to rot somewhere bad. They don't want to see him succeed and will take the best offer they can get from a crappy team, gutting them and leaving Melo with what's left (if that tweet has any legs). Sucks for H-Town.

That's why I don't get why those two teams are even mentioned.
I read in another article that Golden State was a possibility and Charlotte.
Once again, I don't see Melo doing an extension with any of those teams off the bat, so why would a team dump what little future they have for a one year rental?
Seems about as unlikely as possible.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Honestly, the journalists just make this crap up.
The T-Wolves? Why would they trade all their young talent for a guy like Melo who would run out of there faster than Usain Bolt at the end of the season.Comment
