    Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

The Nets are having a harder time getting a commitment from the Denver Nuggets than they are Carmelo Anthony.
But they are working toward getting something done as the talks are ongoing and could expand to involve more players.
As it stands, the Nets would send Derrick Favors, a 2011 first-round pick and Golden State’s 2012 first-round choice (protected one-through-seven) to Denver, Devin Harris and Quinton Ross to Utah. In return the Nets would get Anthony and at least one more player from the Nuggets. Guard Arron Afflalo has been added to the talks, sources said, while adding there could be more involved.

Also, D.J. Augustin is not in the four-team trade, so the Nets could try to get a point guard in this deal or look for one in a separate move. Without Augustin’s inclusion, Jarvis Hayes probably won’t be involved either. It won’t be a deal breaker if Augustin isn’t included.
Denver also would receive Andrei Kirilenko from Utah while the Jazz gets Boris Diaw from Charlotte.
With this many teams and pieces, there’s always the potential of the trade blowing up. Trades with this many parts and teams always are hard to complete.
The Nets want to get something done before the Nuggets open camp Monday. If it doesn’t happen by then, it’s even more likely it won’t happen. But it’s hard to imagine Anthony reporting to camp after all this, and if he does, how committed would he be to the Nuggets.
It’s also hard to imagine the Nuggets getting a better deal at this point.

Wouldn't see the need for Afflalo since we already have Williams, James, Outlaw and that they play more than one position as well, unless he can run the Point.

So i don't know why Melo is so itchy to get a trade done now. I mean if he goes to the Knicks they would loose some talent on on very thin talented roster, no offense but NY ain't got enough talent to contend as it is now. But now it looks like Jersey is gonna be Melo's new home, which means they will loose Derrick Favors, a promising talent and a talented point guard in Devin Harris in a 4-way trade.

Which leaves Melo in a similar situation to T-Mac's Magic back in the day. I know Nets are gonna have cap and all but this means Melo is gonna have to be patient until the Nets can put some pieces around him, which is exactly the reason why the whole Anthony trade is baloney to me. If Anthony has to be patient anyway if a deal gets done....then why can't Mr. Anthony patiently wait another year in Denver, see how things go this year, probably make the playoffs and see if any of his favored destinations can put some decent players around so that he can sign with them next season?...

I think Melo is just jealous that his "best" friend Bron Bron hooked up in Miami with great talent and has all the attention right now, i think Melo wants out to get some attention and not throughly thinking what's best for him right now. My 2 cents....

Expect a different deal by tomorrow night or this won't go thru at all as NJ is basically all in on this but are looking for ways to add another PG.

Separately in a tweet, Amick adds, "Good will is fading fast between Denver and everyone else. NJ, Charlotte, Utah not thrilled with how it's being handled." Al Iannazzone confirms the issue in a tweet, reporting, "The Nets are having a harder time getting a commitment from the Denver Nuggets than they are Carmelo Anthony." Alan Hahn of Newsday similarly tweets the Nuggets, who have drastically cut salary and expenses in recent weeks, "want to come out of it with a payroll savings. Deal as is would mean adding" payroll.

This may be great news for NY after-all. Denver may burn so many bridges that the only one left standing leads to NY.

Favors and draft picks is a pretty damn good haul for Denver. The better jump on this ish pronto. They're crazy if they think they are going to get better from us or NY (I think Deng, Noah, picks is a good haul too though Chicago refuses.)

              Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – As Carmelo Anthony(notes) has debated his future with the Denver Nuggets, he’s sought advice from a player who was in a similar position three years ago.
Kobe Bryant(notes) demanded a trade in the summer of 2007 before the Los Angeles Lakers appeased him by trading for Pau Gasol(notes) midway through the season. Anthony has pushed the Nuggets for a trade this summer, and the team is weighing sending him to the New Jersey Nets. The Nets first want assurances Anthony will sign a contract extension with them before they do the deal.

              Bryant’s advice to ‘Melo?
              Don’t leave just to leave.
“We’ll see if he signs a reasonable extension and if he’s 100 percent happy that it’s where he wants to go,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports Saturday. “If not, don’t make a move just to get out of the situation. …Make sure it’s a move that you’re very happy in and you’re comfortable with.”
Bryant said he talked with Anthony “a couple days ago” and understood how a move to the Nets would be appealing because of the team’s talented young center, Brook Lopez(notes), and new Russian billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov. The Nets have rebuilt themselves after winning a league-low 12 games last season while the Nuggets lost in the first round of the playoffs one year after falling to Bryant’s Lakers in the Western Conference finals.
“I’m closer to him than anyone else from my Olympic team,” Bryant said. “My advice is to do what he feels is right for him and his family. It starts there. He has to be happy with the situation that he is in because if your heart isn’t where it should be, it could have a half-*** effect. You don’t want that. You can’t please everybody. You just have to do what’s right for you.”
The part I bolded is what I would hope Melo has thought about. Because up until July 8th, nobody and probably Melo himself thought he would be sitting here today wanting to leave Denver to form his own Superteam because his buddies went and did it.

Glad to see that the Clippers still have a brain(if this report is true):

League sources told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday there’s some disagreement in the Nuggets organization about whether to take the present package for Anthony, or wait and try to get something better. Sources say the Nuggets were hoping the Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls would re-emerge with offers over the weekend that included Blake Griffin and Joakim Noah, respectively, but Clippers and Bulls sources insist that those players remain off limits in talks.

Melo's finally realizing that he doesn't wanna go to the Nets and win 35-45 games for the next 2 seasons. That's why this deal is being held up. I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks didn't pull off a last minute trick move and snatch him up before tomorrow night.
