I'm happy with being a mid level playoff team so if my team didn't already have a point guard I'd be all for it, but I would be for it with the understanding that my team was never going to win anything.

Isaiah Thomas in 89 and 90.
He wasn't an All NBA point guard in 1989 or 1990.

So basically I think he's saying PG's should not be mentioned with Kobe/LeBron/Wade/Shaq/Duncan.

Not sure if that's his point but that's my best guess.

There is a handful of "great" point guards who have led their teams to the Finals though.. GP, Stockton, Kidd
To me Cebby stat's are circumstantial at best. LeBron has been the best player for arguably the past three years 0 titles. Kobe without Shaq or Gasol 0 titles. Wade without Shaq 0 titles. Duncan 1 titles with David Robinson and 3 with Parker and Ginobili. Jordan(aka the GOAT) without Pippen 0 titles. No player wins titles without a supporting cast.

I might be wrong but I didn't think Parker or Ginobli were really that great for Duncan's first title without Robinson

That's not really the point. All those players except Lebron have won titles where they were the best player on the team. No team has won a title in the last 20+ years with a point guard as the clear best player on the team. Not every point guard in the last 20 years has been surrounded by a bad supporting cast.

Other than Nash and Kidd what top point guard has had a "Robin" of the caliber as the names that I mentioned?

                On topic:

Chris Paul has sent word to Carmelo Anthony that their most realistic opportunity to play together will be for the Hornets, according to a source.

New GM Dell Demps has been incredibly active in pursuing trade scenarios, according to multiple sources.

Now that would be quite a team, should Melo just sign outright in NO's. Makes the most sense because CP3 will still be under contract after this year.

A trade seems out of the question...

                  Or possible trade:

Melo for Peja/Songaila expirings and Thornton

                  Get it done
Wow that would be lovely. The Hornets would be mortgaging the future for right now with trading Collison and then Thornton.

Hornets trading for Melo I wouldn't like cause it means Thornton would prolly be gone, but to me Melo signing with the Hornets next summer would make a lot of sense for him

I'm very high on Thornton. So, I don't wanna see us trade for Anthony at the risk of losing him. If we did lose Thornton, I'd just have to get over it, but it would burn so much.

If true, things may have gotten interesting...

Source tells me the NY Knicks have a deal available to acquire a No. 1 draft pick in 2011 for use in a C.Anthony trade, if talks revived.

Good point sir. I do still think you can build a championship team around a PG.

edit: But I dont think Boozer is better than Gasol at all.
