    Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

The Knicks missing out on Melo would suck more than missing on LeBron because Melo actually wants to come to NY as his first choice.

Not so sure that we have to included Gallo at all.Still think it can get done without him being added.

No way I trade Gallo and Randolph. You do that, and you have no young talent, no cap space, no good picks, and a middle of the pack playoff team for years to come.

While I can see the convenience of just waiting until next offseason to make a pitch on Melo ... I can also understand why would they pull the trigger on such a trade ... The only major drawback that I see is the bench depth when occurrence of an injury.

Yes, both (Galo & Randolph) are talented but so is Melo ... yes, both are young but so is Melo ... yes, the capspace would be no more but so is as of now ... yes, they will not be a certaintly relevant playoffs team but so they arent one for sure as of now ... then, Melo has a huge gap over those two combined in marketing and potential ticket & merchandise sales and media cover revenues ... also add the appealing effect that will have on other relevant future FAs of joining a combo of Amare & Melo (I am looking at you 2012 Paul).

For a guy like Melo (with all his weaknesses), that pack is worth it and even then, being honest, DEN should have got more thus I believe at this point, they wont.

Seems like it's not just Bulls fans who's over-valuing their players. Of course, Noah is not worth trading for a future HOF player. But that's just me.

If I was the Knicks, and Denver wanted those guys, Gallo and Randolph would be on the first plane to Denver.

                  Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

I have a hard time believing AR will ever be anything more than a guy with great athleticism who shows flashes. He has such a poor IQ and that is really, really tough for a lot of players to develop. For the most part you either have it or you don't. I would never let a player like AR keep me from acquiring a Melo-level player. Gallo has a solid upside but again, we're talking about Carmelo Anthony here. A lot of Boston fans didn't want them to trade Al Jefferson for KG - we all know how that turned out. And Jefferson was a better player then than either Gallo or AR currently are.

If we get Melo while shipping out AR & Gallo that means when CP3 becomes an FA the only guys we'll have on the books would be Amare, Melo and Mozgov. Yes please! Miami proved that quality vets/role players will take less to play with a great core. Granted CP3 will have to take less than the max if we have Amare/CP3/Melo then we don't really care about draft picks or having a ton of cap space - or young "could be good" players like Gallo & AR.

No kidding... that's a steal for Melo unless either one turns into something REALLY special. And even then, it's a steal right now.

I'm with you Gallo and Randolph being on a plane...speaking as a Bulls fan I would have been willing to fly Noah to Denver on my dime for that trade to happen.....lol

Who said I was talking to you or knicks fans? He's a New Yorker, the Nets are moving to New York, he should be happy as his favorite player has a greater chance of coming to his state to play for him.

This is why I don't like knicks fans, so self centered

I dunno ehh, I think that's the exception, not the rule. Expecting guys to start taking big paycuts to chase rings is a little ridiculous. Part of the equation of guys doing it for Miami is the idea of being part of something unique, that's being done for the first time. Expecting guys to start passing up chances for one last big payday to play with capbusting super teams is asking for disappointment imo.

Didn't the same happen with boston? Good older players taking less for super star teams?

No one can say for sure if it's the exception yet because we've only had one instance of what happened in Miami. Even Boston's Big 3 was not on the level of Miami, not even close really, and they still got a lot of good role players on the cheap. Amare/Melo/CP3 would be much closer to Miami's moves than what Boston did in 2007. So we really can't say.
