I think he will eventually end up there because thats where he wants to be IMO whether its this year or next, but as long as D'Antoni's the coach they will never win a championship. Walsh should attempt to get Melo as he would be a great addition to any team. I hate the knicks and hope Melo don't go there but i think it will happen, but I guess as long as D'Antoni is the coach I will be OK,LOL.

CP3 to NY is cool, but Melo and Stat would need a Center down the road, unless Boston dies off, Miami never acquires a Center,Hibbert remains stagnant, and Howard bolts to the West.

Im not sure what Felton would do deep in the Playoffs.

Rumor has it that Marc Gasol is on the Knicks radar big time for this off-season.

How does a frontcourt of Melo, STAT, and M.Gasol compare to the best frontcourt in the east??

I cant call it. But that Boston team has been together so long that the EXP factors into this.

In a seven game series(Next Year) - I cant call it, but Gasol would be what NY needs at the 5. Any legit Center that can score would help STAT down low.

The Knicks/D'Antoni would have to amp up their Defensive philosophy to get deep in the playoffs.

If they sign Melo Chandler is as good as gone. I doubt the have the money to sign both Melo and Gasol and if they trade for Melo with the extension they won't have the money for both because Gasol is going to command a pretty big deal. Then it is not known if Gasol even wants to leave the Grizz.

Gasol is also restricted (that won't go away with new CBA). Grizzlies won't let him go for cheap either, it's just a Knicks pipe dream.

Only really have a shot at Gasol if they miss out on Melo.

Gasol is at the end of his first NBA contract, making him restricted automatically. Also only been in the league 3 years.

You pretty much don't have a choice. Well you do, but they all kind of suck.

Sign the qualifying offer and play one more year on the same team (he becomes unrestricted after) or leave the NBA altogether.

Any other team (including Memphis) can sign Gasol but Memphis always has the right to match any contract as long as he is restricted. Pretty sure the only reason they haven't signed him to a contract extension yet is because NBA rules forbid it.

Today I caught up with Carmelo Anthony, and for the first time, I really felt a sense of uncertainty from the guy.

Asked where he thought he’d be traded, the Nuggets all-star said, “At this point, I really don’t know.

“New Jersey took that deal off the table. In order for me to consider them, I’d have to agree to the meeting. Now, it’s washed under the table.”

I Asked: Are the options strictly New Jersey, New York, Chicago, Denver?

Melo said, “Yeah. But I really can’t say it’s just those, because I don’t really know (what could happen).”

This, of course, is in reference to the reality that Denver could trade Melo to a team he doesn’t want to play for long-term. If that happens, then he might not sign the three-year, $65 million contract extension to play for that team. Instead, he’d opt out of his current contract and be a free agent this summer, likely signing with the Knicks. But – he would take a significant pay cut, due to the new collective bargaining agreement.

I asked, “If they trade you somewhere, and you don’t sign the extension, you’re screwed …” But then, before he could answer, I justified by saying, “Well, not necessarily screwed…” But, Melo flashed a smile and said: “Screwed.”
