Oh I know, it's crazy. I think Dumars must overvalue his players. Rip & Tay have been rumored to be traded for how long now? lol. I remember the Prince for Kaman straight up deal that never went through. I think he might be waiting for the deadline...

Who would you give up for Rip? Wasn't there a 3 team deal with the Blazers in the offseason that had Bayless going to Detroit? I'm not sure what happened with that.

DALLAS -- Mark Cuban doesn't take losing too well.

That's why a big part of the outspoken and controversial Dallas Mavericks owner still burns a bit inside when he thinks about the opportunity LeBron James passed up in Dallas during free agency last summer to instead sign with the Miami Heat.

Cuban said he desperately tried to recruit James and his business manager, Maverick Carter, through a series of text messages after the July 1 start of free agency. Cuban tried to convince James he would be closer to winning a championship with the Mavericks than with the Heat.

"Before he made his decision, what I told [James] ... and what I told Maverick was no team had ever blown up their team to ground zero -- well, I shouldn't use those words -- blown their team up of all of their core, and then added a couple of free agents and won a championship," Cuban said before the Mavs beat the Heat106-95 on Saturday at American Airlines Center. "It's always taken someone to come into a good team, make it better, and put it over the top. That's what I told him, and that's what I told Maverick."

Cuban had envisioned James playing with perennial All-Stars Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd and surrounding them with one of the league's deepest supporting casts. Cuban was comparing the Mavericks' situation with that of the Heat, which stripped their roster down to reserve guard Mario Chalmers before reloading with James, re-signing Dwyane Wade and adding Chris Bosh.

The Heat have struggled this season while the Mavericks have gotten off to one of the league's more impressive starts, with victories against San Antonio and New Orleans. Cuban said he was not certain if James would eventually regret his decision.

James said Cuban was "a very sly guy" when he was informed before the game that the Mavericks owner had gone public with their text exchanges from the summer. James never had an official recruiting visit with Dallas, although he met with the Heat, New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers.

"This is definitely one of the teams I looked at, being a veteran ballclub, they got a lot of winners on their team," James said of the Mavericks. "But you guys know where I ended up at. Mark is a very sly guy, man. He wants to win. He does what's best for his team, and he's very passionate about it."

I know. I have to just shake my head thinking about it. Kidd (a known LeBron friend), Dirk and LeBron, along with all those other guys they have like Chandler, Beaubois, etc. I'm sure they would have had to get rid of someone to make room for LeBron, but even still....man. Almost makes me want to make that happen in 2K11.

I've always thought the only thing missing with the Mavs is a guy that could take some of the load off of or share it with Dirk.

Still too early for all of that. A ten game win streak and people will forget all about this slow start. The main thing is how they play in the postseason. If they go very far or lose to the Celtics very closely, they're fine. A loss to any other team or a bad loss to the C's and they will be blasted until the day they win a ring.

I don't know what was worse. Watching the Kings do this garbage or watching the Heat doing their now usual ish.

LeBron already came out and said that he's not changing the way he is playing, saying otherwise he'd just be a role player.

Wade and Bron are just going to keep playing the same way and hope it works out. Too much selfishness on that team to ever reach their potential.

That's the thing though. Are they really built for the postseason? With that lack of bigs, I really don't think they are. A team like the Celtics would just expose them so badly.

Well he's a liar, because he's already changed the way he's played from MVP to pretty good and from winning to losing.

But it's still the same style, it's just not working because he doesn't have the shooters that he had in Cleveland.

LeBron is going to keep pounding the ball and shooting hero shots rather than going into the paint and be the Magic style point forward he should be. Dude is SO obsessed with being "like Mike" that he is totally ignoring what he does best.

LeBron needs a Larry Brown right now. Someone to put him in his place, tell him to shut up and just play the game that suits his talents.
