Tyreke as a franchise player is true. But his game is tough to build around. He isn't real great at setting up other players. His game lacks an effeciency of motion that guys like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook have. Tyreke dribbles a lot.

I just feel if Tyreke Evans is your franchise player, your franchise is probably lottery bound.
Way too early to tell, so I won't touch that question. Kevin Martin is in the middle of his career (not sure how many years...I think 4-5, something like that). Tyreke is a month into his second year.

You make a good point that he over-dribbles, but that can be fixed.

I also feel like it's too early to make that "lottery bound" statement about Tyreke as well.

This is a big problem with Boston likely to have homecourt advantage, as they excel at all of these areas.
      I agree completely.

In the playoffs the Heat will have to face either the Magic, Celtics or Bulls. All of them do a great job smothering half court teams but are vulnerable against teams that can run.
Ehhh, the only way I think LeBron and Wade on the same team works is if LeBron adapts a Pippen or Magic-style game.

It's a credit to just how damn talented the guy is that it's within reason he could do that, but reading what OSU mentioned, he obviously has no plans to try to do that. It frustrates the **** out of me because it could work.

If D Wade played as hard as Jordan or as consistent as Kareem then that would be an easy thing to do. But D Wade has shown that he will show up when he wants to.

LeBron has brought it to win a lot of games in the regular season before. Both Bosh and Wade have had their effort questioned by their teams during the regular season. Obviously LeBron had his effort questioned in the playoffs but that is a different issue right now.

I read your earlier comment after I posted. Looks like we're on the same page. The only thing I'd add is that they shouldn't play fast the whole game. They get easy shots for their roleplayers and they get to the foul line. They don't shoot or rebound or shoot FTs well enough to win the whole game like this, but they can keep it close. Then they can speed the game up in spurts. They are so unstoppable on the break, whether it's a miss or a steal, they are guaranteed to go on 6-12 point runs when their gambling defense produces results.

Managing the rhythm of the game allows them to play to their strengths and put pressure on a better half court team to execute, rather than having all game to do so. Playing Nellie ball is a gamble, because better 3pt shooting teams will get too many opportunities to get hot. The Heat want layups, but not 3pt attempts for anyone other than Jones, Miller and Chalmers/House. Bron and Wade tossing up those bricked long rebound 3s would cause the whole thing to backfire and start up the other team's transition game.

Most teams don't have the talent to execute on call. They execute in rhythm, which is why Miami needs to speed up and slow down according to whichever is their advantage at the time.

To me it is about matching up LeBron, Wade and Bosh with a quickness matchup. Nellie ball isn't all about threes. It is about getting the best players on the court regardless of position. Then increasing the tempo of the game to allow these players to out play their opponent. Isolating the weak matchups.

I think they can pick and choose when to go into this mode. But running a lineup of House, Wade, Jones, James, Bosh needs to happen more often. Substitute Miller for House when healthy then you have a formula for success.

Throwing Haslem, Anthony, Magloire and these other unskilled lane cloggers just makes it harder for Wade and James to operate offensively and defensively these players are average at best.

Rebounding and defense is about effort and they don't have many players on their roster that do that. In fact with Haslem hurt I don't see one player who is going to make hustle plays. So you might as well just go with the best skill and try to outscore everybody.

I agree with the basis of what you're saying, but even in your answer, you provide the challenge. They need to rebound the basketball. Also, Wade and Bron are always in a quickness mismatch. Teams are just packing the paint and daring them to shoot, but I think we're seeing things about the same way. Their roster has issues so it's not going to be a perfect world for them either way. They just have to play to their strengths and hope it outweighs their weaknesses. They lack the balance of LA or Boston.

The Heat need to become a better defensive team if they want to improve offensively. The Heat are at their best in transition and running a fast break. When you play better defense, you should get better transition or fast break opportunities because you either 1. forced a turnover or 2. your not taking the ball out of the hoop and in-bounding it.

When you have to inbound the ball it limits transition opportunities and forces you to play a more halfcourt style of game. The Suns-Lakers series, I think illustrated this point. When the Suns got stops, they usually got better looks on offense because they were able to push the ball.

I said from the beginning that LeBron should have gone to the Clippers.

Both attention whores could be in the city of attention whores, LeBron could have Blake Griffin and down low and Eric Gordon as help, with Kaman and Bledsoe.....would have been a MUCH better supporting cast for him.

Would have been absolute torture for me, but whatever.

                        How dumb.

That's a recap of the Dallas-Miami game from tonight. Fast forward (or don't) to around 0:25 and you'll see LeBron bump into Erik Spolestra. Lol fired.

Also, the Heat had a 45 minute meeting after the game, so I hope for my sake they start winning more games.
