I cant stand him just as much as the next guy, but when it comes to overall talent and basketball ability, any list without LeBron James at #1 can't be taken seriously. He's the best basketball player in the world. My list:

            LeBron James
            Dwyane Wade
            Kobe Bryant
            Dwight Howard
            Derrick Rose

He is the most physically gifted player in the league, but his BASKETBALL talents pale in comparison to Kobe, Wade, Durant, Carmelo etc.... His outside shot is still highly inconsistent, he refuses to post up and his defensive reputation is comprised of him gambling for steals and blocking an occasional shot from behind. As his "decision" showed, this guy just doesn't have the inner desire to be as good as he could be.

                My Top 5
                1. Lebron James (Even though I don't like him, he's better than everyone else)
                2. Kevin Durant (A guy who's 6'10" and plays like a small forward and is a 30 PPG Scorer)
                3. Dwight Howard (Dominant Rebounding and Defensive Big Man, without him Magic would be 35 win team)
                4. Dwayne Wade (Best SG penetrator off the dribble in the NBA
                5. Kobe Bryant (Best Mid-range shooter in game, and also has 5 rings)

IMO Durant and Melo shouldn't be up there, they don't rebound as well as they should, neither plays defense, and neither is a good passer. you can be elite as a pure scorer (see kobe) but you have to do it in the playoffs against the best competition whenn everybody is watching.

**well kobe can play very good on ball defense though too.
