I 2nd that, LOL. I doubt he will be in the running but he is doing a nice job so far with this team. I like how when a bench player is playing well in the 4th qtr he leaves them in instead of taking them out just to put a starter back in, unlike O'brien. He keeps this up i doubt the Pacers will be searching for a coach during the off season.

Yep. If he keeps it up and the Pacers make the Playoffs, he'd be my coach of the year, lol. I doubt he'll win it the actual award though. It'd only be a half a season and I don't know if interim's are even eligible for this award.

Popovich is the coach of the year for me...he has consistently managed a team that can win games at home and on the road on a consistent basis, simple as that. Lets see how they go when the playoffs arrive.

              Re: Coach of the Year?

Everybody's mentioned the favorites, BUT what about the dark-horse candidates? Guys like Larry Drew, who's Atlanta team is 4th in the east right now. How many people would have thought they would be right up there? A guy like Nate McMillian should get some consideration. You loose your best player and starting center and he's still above .500 in the western conference. That's saying a lot. Not a huge fan of this guy BUT Rick Carlise is doing a decent job with the Mavs this year. Lionel Hollins is one that's actually rising in the ranks. Memphis has been ballin lately, and this is without OJ Mayo.

Now I'm not saying any of these guys is going to win it BUT consider the expectations of their teams at the start of the season and look where they are at now.

Nate McMillan is a very underrated coach IMO. He should've won this award in 09(i think it was).

[Homer]George Karl, we have all the big egos/crazy players on our team and still win lot of games + Melo drama.[/Homer]

But Pops will probably win it.

It's Popovich but if the sixers make the playoffs then it's collins. When you can be in the playoffs with a best player of iggy and a center of hawes then you deserve coach of the year

Na if anything the Hawks are performing like they're supposed to. They've kept the same nucleus for a while, and have 3 borderline All-Star players and a 6th man of the year in Crawford. They've won a substantial amount of regular season games in the past two years.

                      Drew doesn't deserve mention.
