    Re: The Hornets have blown the Chris Paul era

    I really want to start a thread, "Why do you hate the Knicks?" but feel it'll somehow be against TOS.

    I'd like to know why posters here hate the Knicks so much? Is it Dolan, Isaiah, Spike Lee, Landry Fields, who?

    The Knicks did not force the Melo Drama or Melo trade. He wanted to come here for whatever reasons he did.

    The Knicks did not start this CP3 crap. He made a toast and brought this on himself.

    The Knicks have been irrelevant for a decade until making some noise last year.

    Especially PPM, what do you have against the Knicks?

    I did not hear one trade offered by the Knicks for CP3. All this stuff is being reported by Chris Broussard and Alan Hahn who are biased anyway.

    Why the hate?

        Re: The Hornets have blown the Chris Paul era

        Like I said, you guys can dream up scenarios about who they'll take or give up, but CP3 is not coming to the Knicks in a straight up trade.

        Not happening.

        Stop dreaming about it and going to ESPN.com to play that dumb trade game.

        There's no way it can be done.
        "It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

            No it's not. I would've started a separate thread or something.

            Point being, the Knicks aren't putting these rumors out there. And they didn't with Melo either.

              And my point is: Who is hating on the Knicks? I have not seen one person blaming the Knicks for CP3 "requesting a trade".

              BTW, more reports that CP3 did not request a trade to NYC.

                And the bolded is exactly the point.

                I guess all the "Knicks can't trade for CP3; I hate the NBA if they allow CP3 to go to NY" type of talk gets to me because none of this comes from the Knicks.

                CP3 is the one who made the idiotic toast. And now he's playing dumb when he gets all of these questions.

                The Knicks getting CP3 in FA or in a trade is not a case of the rich getting richer...because we sucked for so many years. I can understand Laker or Yankee hate because they've won.

                But the Knicks? Really? Be thankful for us taking bad contracts away from the other 31 teams in the league for so many years.

                  Re: The Hornets have blown the Chris Paul era

                  People hate the Knicks because we represent the possibility of becoming the same thing Miami already is. If we become Superfriend Team numero dos then people will hate us something fierce. Then throw NYC into the equation and it gets ugly. Even though, as BigEast stated, that's on Amare/Melo/CP3. The Knicks had nothing to do Melo and CP3's actions to land in NY. Amare is fine, just like no one really hates Wade all that much because he was there first.

                  Seriously, can you think of a single person (besides maybe Raptor fans with outrageous expectations) that hated Chris Bosh before last season? Now he's probably the third most-hated guy in the NBA behind LeBron and Kobe. Same thing will happen in NYC.

                  I've always been annoyed by CP3 and some of his tactics, he will become absolutely despised as a Knick. He will become a Top 5 most-hated NBA player very quickly once more and more casual fans become familiar with him. Melo has always had his fair share of bashers for a variety of reasons we all know. STAT wasn't much different coming into last year but at least he quieted a lot of doubters.

                  If we get CP3, in terms of hate...

                  Amare = Wade
                  Melo = Bosh
                  CP3 = LeBron

                    CP3 will never reach Lebron's level of hate. Not even remotely close. I doubt people will hate him very much at all. The Knicks as a whole, maybe. Buts thats only if they win. CP3 is a babyface in the NBA lol. He would have to do ALOT to be hated.

                      Re: The Hornets have blown the Chris Paul era

                      True he won't reach LBJ's level of hatred, no one will. I was just saying he'll see a big pump in hatred and will become the Knicks most hated player.

                      Going back to him punching Julius Hodge in the ballsack while he was at Wake he's always been a little punk and a dirty player. Trust me, people will hate him even if he's got a baby face. He's just been in a small market and there aren't a lot of people out there that have seen much of him. Diehard fans of course but that's about it.

                      Did you think Bosh was going to be so hated? Before he even played in a game for Miami he became known as Batwoman on the Interwebz.

                      The only thing that might save the Knicks' Big 3 a little is that they came second. Some will view them as the team that can keep Miami from getting a ring and they'll support them because of that.

                          CP3 sees the writing on the wall, no superstar is going to NO to team with him. And thanks to Lebron and company he is going to have to go team up with other superstars in order to win something. I agree, that under normal circumstances he would probably stay in NO, but the super friends have forced his hand.
                          They may want to play together. I wanted to play with my best friend going into college, but that doesn't mean I was going to put that above all else. Just bc front running LBJ decided to go to Miami (Wade was already there and Bosh did need to be 2nd or 3rd fiddle somewhere) doesn't mean every big time athlete that wants to leave their current situation is trying to form a "Big 3" or some super team to match the Heat team that's still yet to win anything. As I said, Melo was going to the Knicks, Stat or not. Stat wanted to be the man somewhere and the Knicks paid him to do that in NY. If they end up with 3 stars (as if a healthy Billups doesn't count at least somewhat anyway) it won't be bc of a conspiracy theory of players plotting a grand plan over years so they can play with their buddies. Or in other words, Paul may like the idea of playing with Melo in NY, but he may like a max contract more... or playing in the WC... or playing on a team with more growth potential bc of the money and draft picks they have... etc. All these guys don't think the same, and I'd even go as far as saying James is the only one that thinks the way people are assuming every one of them is thinking.

                          NYC doesn't automatically make you the advertising magnet. That was said about Lebron and wasn't true then, and it definitely isn't true for anyone not named Lebron/Kobe who's still a star in their own right. That may have held more weight in the 80's or 90's but it's just not a big deal now. As was posted earlier, James, Kobe and Wade are doing just fine not being in NYC. In fact, every player has been fine not being there as they haven't had anyone getting a ton of love for some time before last year. But even still, Paul is not Lebron. He's not trying to be a "global icon" and doesn't have the draw anyway. He's not an unknown either. If anyone wants him to represent them they have cell phones, email accounts, private jets, etc. to make it happen.

                          Finally, not even worth pulling a quote for this one... nobody here is hating on the Knicks. Any ribbing people have given Knicks fans over the last couple of years comes more from people assuming that not thinking someone should or will go to the Knicks = hating on them.

                            People that live in NY will never understand why people outside of NY dislike them.

                            I will say this in that I do find trash talking that comes from most Knicks Fans hilarious(most of ya'll on here are pretty cool for the most part). It's like the ugliest girl at the party calling the ugliest girl in the party ugly but because she lives in the Suburbs while the other lives in the Projects, she the better looking one LOL.

                                I'm not really surprised with these reports that he did not request a trade to NY, this same talk happened last year and it was all settled for the time being once CP3 actually said something on the matter before the season not these stupid sources.

                                CP3 knows that a trade to Knicks would not be really much of an option and would basically kill the Hornets as a franchise, obviously he'd like to play in NY but we'll see once Demps is able to talk to him.

                                I'm not opposed to trading CP3 at all if we have something to build around in return, and obviously i'd love the idea of him staying and going for D12 lol
