How do you guys decide on FTs? It seems whenever our games try and include FTs, we can never get enough people to actually AGREE on the fact it was a foul, etc.

We play a lot of three on three and there is plenty of contact that we let slide, but if it's a "no doubter" and we all agree, then they'll take free throws

How about the guy who tries to trick someone from the opposing team into giving them the ball? The guy who yells "Hey right here" to the guy bringing it up the court or inbounding it.

I did this last night to someone. I was standing right by the basket, he was about to inbound, I called for it and he gave it right to me. I got the game winning basket out of it. It wasn't until right after he gave it to me that he realized I was on the wrong team.

Ha, well played. That's one of those things where on one hand it's perfectly reasonable for someone to say, "Welp, he should know the teams. That's his fault." But on the other hand I kind of feel it's a lame play (absolutely no offense to you). I just know sometimes teams don't go shirts and skins and with personnel changing a lot, it can be tough to recall which stranger is on your squad at first, even if you "know" before the game begins. It's something where if it happens, we usually stop play and figure it out. No one wants to win by tricking folk.

All that said, I've been hip to that trick for years. But a few months ago I went up to play some ball with my brother in Detroit and it all came tumbling down. The only person I knew in the gym was my brother, who knew a lot of the fellow players himself. He was kind of my safety net there. But he blew out his ankle in the first game and left. So it was just me balling with a bunch of strangers, which is usually not a problem at all.

However, there was this one matchup, where both players looked like Donnell Rawlings (from Chappelle's Show). Short, stocky, bald, small mustache, and same complexion. To top things off, they were matched up against each other and one was wearing a generic white sleeveless over the top of a black short sleeve. The other was wearing a generic black sleeveless over a white short sleeve. It just so happened that the one not on my team kept running back on defense as if he were filling the lane on a fast break. So, I accidentally passed the ball to him a few times.

I felt ridiculous about my foolish turnovers but my teammates were very supportive and understanding. But then my opponents saw me pass to the Donnell twin a few times and began picking up on it. I was feeling a lot of pressure to perform and stressing a little bit (which doesn't happen often) and so when another opponent called for the rock, I hit him in stride too. There was no defending that one but for the first guy, I so badly wanted to be like, "But look! Bald! Same height! Mustache! They're wearing layered shirts in a gym but in opposite colors! They look the same!" But I surmise that would not have gone over very well.

It was not one of my finer moments. My brother called me a day later and asked me how things went without him. I said I played terribly and passed the ball to the other team over and over again. He was like, "Yeah... they mentioned that."

I've gotten slick with it too. Now instead of just doing the typical "Right here" or "woooo!"...

...After a made shot from my team, I walk up real casually behind the guy thats turning around to take the ball out and say something like, "Damn! Who got him!?...Lets go man (calling for the inbounds)." or "Right back."

Works like a mother f****** charm I tell ya. Dude turns right around and hands me the ball without thinking twice. Lol

I dont mind if yall steal that one from me.

The worst is the turnover machine who wants to dribble through double teams and force the issue and then calls fouls when you cleanly strip him smh

Guy who do this should be ashamed of themselves.

Honestly, I'd rather play against a guy who intentionally fouls on fast break layups or flops than someone who has to resort to this sort of tomfoolery to win.

We play with one guy who is notorious for doing this. He's probably the most competitive guy we play with. A few weeks ago he tricked this guy after a defensive rebound on game-point like that and felt so bad about it he gave them the ball back.

so today i hooped with some college guys at UNT and i could tell immediately that one of them had some serious skill, so my competitive side said immediately get on the opposite team. But he refuses to let me play on the other team so i play on his and we went 19-1 today and it was boring.

I hate it when people play overly-aggressive defense. Like cutting off lanes VERY hard, unnecessary hard fouls, and suffocating the crap out of you like they think they're in the NBA.

I guess I hate myself too though lol.

I swear everytime I hoop, I always end up with either Mr."Tall Guy that shoots only 3s" or Mr."Misses every shot but banks the game winning 3" guy.

Those 2 are not my kind of guys.
