    Re: Chris Bosh

...and again, basketball isnt all about shots.

Bosh doesnt do any of the things necessary to help his team out beyond shooting.

He doesn't scrap for rebounds and buckets, he doesn't block shots, he doesnt protect the paint, he's not effective in the pick and roll right now...what is he doing then?

Look to improve your game somewhere, he's a big man and not the #1 option anyway. Letting undersized guys like Jameer Nelson finger roll the ball up in your face and sobbing after doing nothing in a full 4th qtr will never help him, no matter what team he's on.

Watch at like 1:40 for his play against the Celtics. Honestly from watching him this year, I never would have even thought he was physically able to dunk like that.

If Bosh hustled like he did during their west coast trip (they beat the lakers). He could get 10 easy points a game. He doesn't even roll on picks. They would put alot more pressure on the defense if he mixed it up once in a while.

He still has the capacity to do that:

I don't want to take the other thread off topic so I'll ask it here:

Is Chris Bosh a Top 5 PF or a Top 10 Big Man? And would you take him on your team if you had the chance to?

                Top 5? No.

                Top 10? Yes.

Would I take him on my team? Hell no.

My answer too. I actually might need to make a list to make sure he's top 10.
And change his hell no to a "**** no" for me.

                  Dwight
                  Amare
                  Dirk
                  Gasol
                  Griffin
                  Horford
                  Bogut
                  Garnett
                  Odom
                  Randolph
                  Jefferson
                  Duncan
                  Aldridge
                  Brand
                  Lopez
                  Love
                  Boozer

List I made. I wouldn't necessarily take all these guys over Bosh, but it's just a visual list. Obviously it depends on future seasons too, or if its just for one year, or whatever.

And change his hell no to a "**** no" for me.

I would take everyone in bold over Bosh and I would throw Bynum in there too.

I agree with all those guys. Going off of what we have seen this year it is a hell no to top 5 and a strong no to top 10.

Bosh was at 24 and 11 last year now he chopped liver because he plays with Heat. He could easily put up big numbers again as a 1 or 2 option, not gonna happen with the Heat.

                        Top 5 PF? Yes

                        Gasol

It has nothing to do with that and goes way past the numbers. If you have watched him this year compared to previous years it is easy to see that he isn't playing the same way. The Bosh we are seeing this year is a guy who is very lackluster on the boards, isn't anywhere near as aggresive offensively as he was with the Raptors and settles for a jumper far too much, and plays no defense at all. That is not a top 5 PF.

Nobody knocked KG down the top PF's ladder when he joined Boston eventhough his numbers dropped. That is because the guy still brought it everynight and was the key to the best defense in the league. Bosh does none of that. Him playing with the Heat is not why he has dropped. It is how he has played and going about his business on the court that has caused him to drop.

Of course he is not as aggressive as his Raptors days he has to get leftovers from Bron and Wade. Bosh has always been a jump shooting big man I dont know why people expected him to be a post threat in Miami when has never had post game. He is 2ppg 1 rpg off his career average playing as a third option I think he is doing pretty well considering the circumstances. However if you think Bosh was not a top 5 PF before he went to the Heat we can agree to disagree.

Come on now he has not been regulated to leftovers and scraps. He has had plenty of chances to attack and be agressive but has decided not to. Yes he has always been a faceup big man but he attacked off the dribble in Toronto. He simply isn't doing it now. Nobody said he had to become Al Jefferson on the block but just standing around shooting jumpers is not going to cut it. All it takes is one look at his shot selections this year to see he isn't attacking or taking advantage of less defensive pressure. He hasn't even taken half of the amount of shots at the rim as he had last year. On the flip side of that though he has already taken more 16 to 23 foot jumpshots than he took all of last year and has taken the same amount of threes. That in itself tells you that he is settling for jumpers when he could easily beat his man to the rim and score or draw the foul.

As far as how much his numbers have dropped let's go by last year instead of career averages. Bosh has dropped by 6 points and 2 rebounds. LeBron has dropped by 3 points and his rebounding hasn't changed. Wade has dropped by 1 point and has actually increased his rebounding. Another telling number that shows Bosh's lack of aggresiveness compared to LeBron and Wade his free throw attempts have dropped by 3 a game. Wade's is pretty much the same and LeBron's has dropped by one. Those numbers speak volumes. The reason why Bosh's numbers have dropped so much more than LeBron and Wade is again tied directly to him not being aggressive offensively or on the glass.

I never said he wasn't a top 5 PF back with the Raptors. He was a top 5 PF then but with the way he is playing now he is not. I don't see how it could be disputed. Again Playing with Boston and the Lakers hasn't stopped KG and Gasol from being top level PF's because they are and have taken advantage of the chances to not have to face double teams every night. Both KG and Gasol's FG% jumped up to career high levels when they joined their new teams Bosh on the other hand has not.

                                Re: Chris Bosh

It was almost unanimous among Knick fans (myself included) that we wanted Bosh over Amare this summer but I voiced plenty of concerns about Bosh playing with LBJ & Wade, playing in the spotlight (re: questioning his toughness) and how good he'd be deep in the playoffs against tough, physical defense. He never did anything in the postseason during his Toronto tenure (not his fault obv) but I remember saying over and over again that Bosh was nowhere near a superstar and that his crowning career achievement was being the 8th man on the Redeem Team. There are a lot of guys in this league that put up big numbers on poor teams that really doesn't mean much (see my sig baby).

His production is certainly hindered by playing with LBJ and Wade (which we all knew would happen) and his game isn't designed to fit with those two - pretty much because LBJ & Wade's games don't compliment each others either. It's going to be hard for Bosh to be effective in the pick-n-roll when the opposing team is packing the paint and making the entire Heat team hit jumpers. He's not going to have much room to operate in the post either for the same reason. It also doesn't help that there is so much standing and watching in Miami's half court offense. At this point there isn't much he can give them besides mid-range J's, finishing inside off of looks created by penetration and offensive rebounds. Miami's halfcourt offense in general is repulsive.

As others have said, outside of that he doesn't give you much. He's a finesse player, won't protect the rim or really body someone up in the post. It's just a bad fit right now, who knows if Miami will adjust.

Back to the summer - in good 'ol 20/20 hindsight, the decision each player made spoke volumes about their character. Amare wanted the tough challenge, to be the man, to take on the leadership role. Bosh wanted to coast behind the two best players in the game in a lesser role. No shocker that Amare became a stud and Bosh is the running joke of the 2011 season.
