Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
This is pretty much truth. Sad part is some teams get home cooking, some don't and some get the stuff catered. Boston get's catered.Comment

Douglas was tripped by KG though
moving screen with no call?
..but im sure it'll get downplayed somehow that the refs just missed it or somehow the knicks just blew it anyway

You start living in this blame the refs stuff. You should stop watching basketball.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
I hear you. Normally I wouldn't, but when you make a touchy (at best) offensive foul call on the possession right before then you better call a blatant trip on the next possession. Personally, I think both plays should have gone whistle free. If you call one though, you have to call the other.NFL - Vikings

And when LeBron was with CLE it was exactly the same for you guys.Comment

That offense foul could go both ways. (he did grab him).... The tripping or the falling. Its the way you look at it.
I probably would be more on the side of knicks if they were down. But there had the lead.
You could easily call a foul on melo when he was guarding PP at the top of the key. On that last 3 by allen. You could easily call a foul on ray allen when melo got of the last shot.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
I just wish these games would have outcomes decided by the players. Let melo catch the ball on the block and see what happens. Maybe he misses, gets to the foul line, makes a bad pass for a turnover etc. The contact on that play is laughable for playoff basketball.
To not even have a play take place in a playoff game with celtics vs knicks in the late stages just takes away from the essence of basketball. Its like your watching a movie and right when a good scene is about to take place the power goes out. Your like wtf.
For all we know the celtics could of made a defensive stop and still pulled out the win. Time and time again these games get ruined by the officials.Comment

My thing its that the right team won last night. They give the better effort. Just like the bulls, hornets, mavs, thunder and anyone else who this weekend. That's all you can ask of your team.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
Yeah, that Melo foul was a bad call but to say one Call cost you the game is ridiculous. The Reason you lost the game is because you got outscored 48-34 in the 3rd and 4th quarter.
The unsung Hero for the Celtics gotta be Jermaine O' Neal who woulda thought he'd score 12 Points and have 4 Blocks to go along with that.
Should be a great game 2.
The problem in this game, Amare did not get a shot up in the last 2+- min of the game. Amare was in beast mode. If Chauncey was in there, he would have found a way to get the ball to Amare.
The refs were inconsistent but can't use that as an excuse, if Amare had gotten the ball in the last few minutes, Knicks would be a game up.
Oh, and got to make your free throws 'Melo. SMH.Comment

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
Let me preface my thoughts with this
I saw several bone headed Knicks plays at the end of the game (within the last 6 minutes) and IMO alot of those plays were inexcusable, including Melo having 11 seconds to get a good shot off but decides to heave a 25 footer with 2 people on him.
That said, its the same argument every year and this is why the NBA is getting tired to some fans. You never know what minute, qtr or game the refs are going to either call it tight or let em play. In this instance it was another bout of inconsistency at the end of the game, so the timing of the calls were crucial, but I would rather have had the Knicks just flat out lose than to go on wondering what if because of some seriously ridiculous bogus calls.
...and this is my problem. We can get the NBA to jump over kobe fast because he called a ref a name from the bench indirectly, but this man never takes any steps to improve whats happening on the side of the officiating and really, its old
No way can you screw up a great game faster than some buzz kill whistles where the players really dont decide the game.Comment

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
That's not the spirit of the competition though man. It's not about who played or gave the better effort the longest or the most. It's about how the game finishes. It's about who makes the plays when they need to. I don't care if you were the laziest sack of crap out on the floor for fourty seven minutes. If the other guys left it close for you and didn't put you away and you make plays to put yourself in position to win in that last minute and a bogus call keeps you from making that last play or god forbid not even give you the chance to make one, it doesn't just get brushed aside because you screwed up before that play. The "right team" is the team who makes the plays at the end of the game. It's hard to be that team when the refs are taking the ball out of your hands.Comment

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
I think after all nonsense took place and melo had the ball with 11 seconds. He has to be thinking go for the kill. He is probably thinking at the time we cant play for a tie in boston's arena especially with the way the officiating was going.
He must of been like let me at least get a 3 off in the air and hope for the best. I did not like the shot attempt but i can understand the moments leading up to that situation where he would be like your damned if you do and your damned if you dont.Comment

The thing that hurts the most, is if the Knicks won this game then game 2 without Billups does not seem so bad. They probably would have sat Billups tomorrow, if they had won yesterday.Comment
