    Re: Adelman done in Houston

Can we pretend to blame this past season on Byron and get Adelman?

In all seriousness though, it'd be pointless for him to come to Cleveland.

I think the Knicks are a big possibility. Boston could also come into play if Doc decides to take time off.

Why? If they somehow lose to Atlanta, I could definitely see him getting fired. Three, four years of success and nothing to really show for it. They might decide to try something/someone else, especially to maybe show Dwight that they're not committed to the status quo?

How many years does D'Antoni have left in New York?

I always thought Adelman was one of the very best coaches in the league. No doubt about it.

Not much unless they get things turned around.

He could be out this offseason if they play terribly against the Celtics, he could be out middle of next season.

Here's an idea, Adelman back to SAC or Anaheim if they move.

I don't buy into it..dwight and stan seem to me to be on great terms..magic can play great d..have a nice inside outside balance..the thing is the other players (with the exception of jameer in spurts) are just not on championship level

I'm not a big Rick Adelman fan BUT if this is your replacement, you should have just kept Adelman.

They'd be better off hiring Mike Brown.

Speaking of which, I still don't understand how he didn't get hired this year but Vinny Del Negro did.

You fire Rick Adelman for Mike Woodson?!?!

BTW if the Raptors were smart (which they aren't) they'd fire Jay Triano and hire Adelman.

Great idea......but I'm almost 99% sure he wouldn't come to Toronto. Why would Adelman take that job ?? I dont see the "young Raptors" (probably getting even more younger after the draft with a top 5 pick) as a very desirable place for him to go.

Well if he wants to win now, which I assume he does, he wouldn't even consider the Raptors. But they do have some nice pieces in place. DeMar improved this season, Ed Davis is looking great, there's cap space to work with and they have a top 10 pick in their pocket as well.

The only thing is the Raptors are lacking that superstar player/leader a team needs. They have a decent supporting cast, they just don't have an alpha dog so to speak.

Meh. It would be great to see them get an established coach like that but I feel Triano (and Colangelo) should get 1 more year.

That's a whole different topic though.

                            http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba...ory?id=6402661

The Houston Rockets have formally requested permission to interview Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey for their coaching vacancy, according to sources close to the situation.

The Mavericks, sources said, will grant that permission but have told the Rockets that they'd like to delay the interview until after Dallas' first-round series with Portland at the earliest so as not to disrupt the team's playoff preparations.

Sources said that Casey is one of the more serious candidates on a long list of potential Houston targets to replace Rick Adelman, which stems partly from the Rockets' high regard for Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle. Casey came to Dallas with Carlisle to run the Mavs' defense starting with the 2008-09 season after posting a record of 53-69 in 1½ seasons as head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 54-year-old Casey has been waiting for second shot at a top job since being dismissed by Minnesota with a record of 20-20 during the 2006-07 season. He narrowly missed out on coaching jobs last summer with the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers and ranks as one of the league's most highly rated assistants.

The Houston Chronicle reported in Thursday's editions that the Rockets already have established contact with two other high-profile available coaches -- Mike Woodson and former Cavaliers coach/current ESPN NBA analyst Mike Brown -- and have interviews scheduled next week with former Mavericks assistant Mario Elie (now with Sacramento) and current Rockets assistant Jack Sikma.

Sources say that the Rockets will not rush their search, however, to allow for the possibility that candidates not currently available -- such as Orlando's Stan Van Gundy -- could suddenly hit the market like Adelman did, depending on what happens in the playoffs.

Other assistants whose teams are still in the playoffs, such as Boston's Lawrence Frank and San Antonio's Mike Budenholzer, also are expected to draw interest from the Rockets. The Chronicle reported that Houston also has interest in longtime Lakers assistant Brian Shaw if Shaw is not chosen by LA to replace the outgoing Phil Jackson.
