Dirk would have to go on a 5 year tear to get into the top 10 all time. This postseason has been a good start.

Top ten all time... The reason he would be in my ten top. Is because of how unique he is. A shooting 7 footer. He would be like the 6-9 point guard (Magic). Or the first Michael Jordan/Wilt. Know what I mean? I know people won't agree. His defense isn't something to be talked about.

But do you think anyone in the Top Ten would be able to defend Dirk?

But you have to talk about his defense when we are comparing him to the best to ever do it. In order for you to be a top 10 player just based on offense alone then you basically have to be the best offensive player to ever walk on a NBA court and he isn't close to that. Even if he gets a ring this year there is no way I can put him ahead of Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Hakeem, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Oscar and others. While he has been one of the most unique players ever he just didn't have the impact those guys had on the game.

As far as being able to guard him there is no doubt in my mind Hakeem would be able to but on the flip side of the question we all know he wouldn't be able to guard any of the 11 guys I listed except maybe Russell. So that question doesn't really carry alot of weight in trying to put him into a top 10.

Dirk wouldn't be in my Top 10. But this post-season does alot for him to be in the discussion later on. I'd put him in the Top 25-30 Players all time.

Haha...You won... He would be number 11 on my list.

Could we make a top ten players without a ring thread?

That would probably be pretty interesting. I think it could also see alot more variety to peoples list than a top 10 players list cause a good 6 guys or so are locks for the top 10 all time list.

Dirk has the ability to be up on the list, not sure about Top 10. He needs to win something first. Nice performance vs OKC, but can he put on a memorable performance in the Finals and lead his team to a championship like many of the guys who are considered Top 10 players have done?

Interesting to see if this changes some people's tones about Dirk.

You could now argue, even with a ring, he MIGHT crack the top 20. MIGHT. I probably wouldn't put him there. There's just been too many guys before him that have done more. He makes a very good case though. I wouldn't say anyone was wrong to put him in that 20. Top 10 is a little absurd.

It's mainly because he's white, which I can't stand even more. Every year the draft comes around, all the white players are compared to other white guys.
