If I was put in Kobe's shoes, heck I would try to get this whole mess out of the way as soon as possible for the sake of his family and himself. I don't understand why people would rather have him play the season, he has nothing to prove on the court than to prove his innocent. For him to prove he could play with all the distraction is a stupid reason in itself at a moment like this. A whole basketball season with Shaq,Malone and Peyton is not important than his own life right now. C'mon, he has a whole 10+ yrs left in him so what does he have to lose? Wait for the outcome of the trial. If hes innocent, he will be the happiest man in the world and focus all hes attention to basketball and will come out to win another championship and silents all hes haters, if found guilty be a man and accept the conseqences of your mistakes.

Either way, the case is at or near the end of the season, so it makes no difference.....the best thing to do IMO is live your life like you normally would. If he sits out this season, then what, it's not like it will make his trial come any faster. Probably feel like it's taking longer.

Re: Once again behold the All Things KOBE thread...

If someone worked for me, and took a year off to focus on his/her trial, I'd fire them. He has a contract, a contract that helps pay for his lawyer. All you guys saying he should take a year off, should he also not accept his salary for a year? This speculation of him taking time off is pure fantasy. A garbage man cant take off a year to focus on his family. A doctor who owns his own practice doesn't suddenly close shop if he is being sued for malpractice, if anything he works harder. Kobe wants rings, he also should know that if he is convicted, he'll have a long time to not play basketball. His livelyhood affords the best counsel money can buy, he'd be wise to do everything he can to make sure that his defense isn't handicapped by lack of money.

I dont know how many of you all are married, but for those that are, they should understand this...imagine admitting adultery, then sitting at home every day with your wife waiting for a trial to start in six months, then finish with a verdict. That's marriage suicide.

The question is do you really care if he stays with his wife after this is all over? I'm a fan of the Lakers, and couldn't care less, nor do I care if Phil leaves his wife, or if Shaq's wife packs up the kids and leaves with Tim Duncan. Kobe is a pro bballer, and until his contract is up, he owes the team, and its fans his services. The more I think about it, the crazier yall sound, no job in America affords its contracted employees with the right to arbitrarily take extended paid leave of at least a year. There are people out there with all sourts of legal troubles that cant sit at home and wait for them to go away. Just like Kobe has to face the music like anyone else, he also has to face his responsibilities like anyone else. After this season, he'll be a free agent, he can sit at home as much as he wants then...until then, he has to lace them up, put on his best face and go compete.

You're right, any other person would have to go to work. If I had tickets to see the Lakers play that SOB better play. Those tickets aren't cheap -- at least the good ones aren't. Judging from tonight's game, however, I think it's pretty clear that he's going to try to play as much as possible.

Kobe really didn't seem to be bothered or nervous out on the court. He seemed like the same old Kobe. Except for the being-out-of-shape-and-twenty-pounds-lighter part. I actually was surprised at how well he played before he became fatigued.
