Alright, I'm'a try not to go off on too much of a tangent on this one but... that's one of my favorite plays I've ever seen. My little brother was born on that day (January 30, 1996). That was Magic's first game out of retirement and I was in 6th grade. If we do the math, that means I was in 1st grade when he initially retired, so I never really saw him play. Meanwhile, by '96, I was obsessed with the NBA and I was partial to the young guns like Sprewell, Kemp, Hill, and Penny.

Anywho, the Forum was so crazy that night (it was a 10PM start, late for a middle schooler from Michigan). I think Magic came off the bench. Again, this was my first time ever seeing him play live (highlights were cool but predictable to a point because, you know, they're highlights). I think Magic made a couple of trips down the floor first with nothing really happening. Then, that offensive rebound and in a split second, right before my eyes, old chubby Magic pulled off one of the craziest moves I'd seen in my NBA life up to that point - he made young gun Spree look like an infant. Absolutely blew my mind at the time. Still love it. I thought I knew Magic Johnson, but that play finally made me feel what I'm sure fans in the 80's felt over and over again as they watched him live.

Separately, I think the video below does a better job capturing Magic than most other flashy camera angled, fun music mixes could ever do:

This feller is cranking out some great mixes. If you feel like you always see the same Dominique dunks every time you watch a Wilkins mix, then this video's for you. A lot of rare and incredible finishes here that for some reason always tend to get overlooked:

Just some highlights from a random Dec. 1990 game. So many players that I used to love...good times!

Clips of my favorite big man of all-time, Amare Stoudemire from the 2004-05 season. This was the Suns first season with Nash and arguably Amare's best season ever. He had 277 dunks that year and this was before his surgery. He went on to be very successful after the surgery, but his explosion was on another level prior to 2006.

This is too beautiful not to share. Nash (42/6/13) vs Jason Kidd (38/14/14) in 2 OT from 06-07, Phoenix wins 161-157.

Just now watching this. He had so many follow-up dunks from his own shots. Also weird to see him take off from one foot. It looked weird to me so I know it had to feel weird to him.
