I love Durant's game, but I'm not ready to give up on my Melo pick. Just because he dropped 50 I'm sure people are going to come in here and go nuts. Durant has a team built around him, Melo is like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole right now.

I feel like Anthony has it in him to be better than Durant in a number of areas, like defense or even consistent offense. That "ability" makes him better today but is also why I would pick Durant... bc I don't think he takes anything for granted and just has to continuing to develop in some areas. You know what you're going to get, and that it'll get better. I don't think Melo has reached his ceiling either, but I don't think he'll ever give max effort in any area ALL the time.

That's something that can't get overlooked because for some players in the NBA, they need 40 just to get that amount or even score less.

I completely agree with what I bolded, but what about when he was in Denver? Didn't he have a team built around him there? Durant led the league in scoring the past two years, and Melo was a member of the Nuggets for a healthy majority of that time.

49 Pts 19-25, 8-8 from the FT line

3 years ago against the Knicks:

50 Pts, 17-28 from the field, 15-16 from the FT line.

And 2 years ago against the Rockets:

50, 16-24 from the field, 16-18 from the FT line. On 24 Shots!? Are you kidding me?

Guess we forget how good Melo can be when he is in the right system. There was more, where he scored like 48 or 47, but I didn't feel like listing them. Point being, Melo has been on that.

So he had a couple of nice individual games, mostly 3 and 4 years ago? I think looking at whole (recent) seasons give a better look at the big picture. And the fact of the matter is Durant has been the better pure scorer, as he's lead the league the past two years.

One player has a hot night and we overreact like crazy LOL.

Nah, Kash usually holds off on that until either the Playoffs or whenever the Lakers play the Heat/Thunder/Celtics.

The one thing I AM certain of, is both guys suffer from the teams/coaching staff they are involved with. Brooks coaching job with OKC leaves much to be desired, even if they made it to the WCF. They did, alot of that, solely because they have very talented individual players, and a dash of chemistry that keeps them rolling. Melo's defensive liabilities will probably be glaring through the season, especially if Captain Pringles sticks around, but as we all saw he picked it up in the playoffs. Still, you need to show that effort and dedication on the D end year round.

Where I stand still, but at the time I was on the fence. Durant has definitely had a great season, and currently trumps Melo to me.
